Zaha should still be our no.1 target and not just b/c I just watched him score twice. Plays anywhere across the top. Offers us pace and trickery. Has probably the best stats outside of the top 6. Homegrown. Poch loves him. An elite player not playing for an elite club. Our main rival for him was also probably Chelsea, and they can't sign him.

How does he get in our starting lineup?

I haven’t really bothered to contribute to this thread because it’s more than obvious what we need. It’s the same as it has been for two years. My main problem is that I don’t think the club has the ability, appetite or (willing) finances to carry all the deals out we need to. Especially if Alderweireld and Eriksen go.

As much as we need a couple of new central midfielders, the fullback positions, especially the right back one is such a concern. Can you see us selling both right backs (which we need to do) and buying a top draw one with the proceeds? I just don’t trust the club to.

The stadium is the other thing, we need it completed this season. No matter what people say, I believe that the construction took levy’s eye off the ball in the summer over transfers. He needs to be back on it 100% with no distractions.

Has anyone mentioned Said Benrahma? Lovely little player, great skill, goals and assists for Brentford, fast, full of flair, only 23.

He’s so much better than Moura and Lamela. He’d play 40+ games for us across a season imo.

Plus I'm not certain both of those will be with us next season either.

I'm not a massive fan of Zaha btw, but I am increasingly interested to see how he'd do in our attack. I think he would frustrate us fans more than impress us. Thats my mine concern.

Think the problem is he would cost us a lot more to buy than we would get for selling Moura or Lamela.

A high outlay for a small improvement isn’t really our thing.

The last couple of games have highlighted our need for a LB/LWB who can put in a cross. Vertonghen created havoc v Dortmund but Danny Rose was hopeless v Burnley (and numerous others).

I would say the same for the right, I don’t rate Trippier or Aurier.

I’m becoming furious with our right back situation to the point that it’s got to be a priority.

In order of urgency I’d say - CM > RB> LB and then look to at least adequately replace anyone who might move on (Eriksen, Toby, Llorente, Lamela, Wanyama etc)

I said FBs were the priority for me near the start of the thread, to some disagreement. We’re such a pale shadow of the team of a couple of seasons ago because of our lack of threat in wide areas.

Rose has been a bit disappointing going forward of late but I’m not accepting that he’s suddenly a liability at the back. He’s more than good enough for us imo.
Vertonghen was different gravy against Dortmund but there’s no way he’d want to play that role full time.

Right back is our issue, it’s no coincidence everything always seems to come at us down that side of the pitch.
Who? To be honest, I don’t know. How about a Walker clone?

Fullbacks have been a priority since we didn’t replace Walker properly and went for the cheap/easy option.

I see Everton are being linked with Thomas Meunier of PSG. He’s always looked good to me when I’ve seen him play. How about him as a choice?

He’s a little bit like Trippier in that he’s got good delivery and nice touches, but not the quickest or most athletic.

I'd say that Trippier, Aurier and KWP are capable of putting decent balls into the box but don't do it enough. Conversely, I'd say Rose and Davies hardly ever deliver a decent cross and Vertonghen showed them how to do it v Dortmund and highlighted what we're missing.
