Yeah I’ve seen talk about him getting an England call up such has been his impressive form. Can’t say I know too much about him.
Just as a matter of interest, can anyone recall an instance when any club has seen nine players leave during a single transfer window?

Good thing he's here at Tottenham!Well in reality we need to move on Vorm, Trippier, Wanyama, Nkoudou, Janssen & Llorente and it's in all likelihood that Alderweireld and Eriksen will be off as well. Add Dembele to the mix as well and that's a hell of a shift out.
I'd be disappointed if we don't move on the necessary players like Trippier & Wanyama and only end up letting the ones pretty much certain to go though. Wanyama hasn't played for 2 years now pretty much and as highlighted in the Trippier thread, Tripps has made big defensive mistakes against the likes of Liverpool, Man City, Man United & Chelsea. You simply can't make mistakes that frequently agains the big teams and stay at a club if that club has aspirations to kick on
This is a bit of a venty post, (not directed at you @ToDarrenIsToDo ) prompted as it was by a thread that seems to have disappeared: the mass clearout one (I'm assuming it's been merged with another).Well in reality we need to move on Vorm, Trippier, Wanyama, Nkoudou, Janssen & Llorente and it's in all likelihood that Alderweireld and Eriksen will be off as well. I'm disturbed by what seems to be an increasingly Football Manageresque view of our squad list. A wishlist of players we'd like to see brought in and who they'd replace is all well and good - no harm in that. But some of the posts I've seen about the enormous list of players now surplus to requirements who will be moving this summer is bordering on the absurd. The idea that we're at a stroke going to gut our squad to the tune of up to nine players, (all of whom bar Janssen have been involved in first team action this season) is simply not credible if for no other reasons but these two:
1) It just isn't done. That really was the point of my question. Has any team dispensed with nine first team players (or mostly first team players) in one go? I'm pretty sure the answer is no. And the comparison to us going two windows without buying any players is specious because it has happened where clubs have done no business in a transfer window. Two in a row (with one being a summer window) may not have happened before, but it's still apples and oranges; and
2) Who do we replace these nine players with? Are we going to buy nine new players? Even if we had the funds, it would be an idiotic thing to do because of the disruption it causes within the squad and the time needed to bed the new players in. That's been demonstrated time and again all throughout football. Or perhaps we'll replace them with academy players? Forgive me, but if we had the academy players to replace the deadwood next season, why haven't they been playing this season?
As I say, I'm venting a little because it's just slightly tiresome to see, over and over again, a long list of who we think is deadwood in the squad and the assumption that they'll all be gotten rid of over a single summer. It's worse that it seems to amplify after every bad result. I think people need a bit of a reality check as to how much pruning we're likely to see this summer. Obviously, the wishlist thread, being by definition about fantasy isn't the best thread, but then this post was supposed to be posted in one called 'mass clear-out this summer' (or somesuch).
The clear-out many seem to be itching for simply won't be happening and I think we should resign ourselves to that fact.
I don't agree on the certainty of the seven you mentioned leaving.I agree 100% but this season we find ourselves in a very unique situation.
Dembele already gone, Vorm & Llorente out of contract, Alderweireld a £25m release clause, Eriksen 1 year away from leaving for nothing, Janssen & Nkoudou surplus to requirements.
7 players near on certain to leave. With this looking to be the case of circumstances don't change do we simply keep hold of a midfielder in Wanyama who hasn't been fit for 2 years and not move a right back on to bring in much needed quality in an area that is clearly a weak link at the moment?
As it stands we either want rid or have our hands tied on 7 players. If we don't commit to making that at least 8 we will be looking at another season alternating Trippier & Aurier at right back again or have Wanyama taking up a slot that he can't fill anymore. It's a rough, high number but are we worried about a high volume of departures or what's best for Tottenham Hotspur?
I don't agree on the certainty of the seven you mentioned leaving.
Toby and Eriksen are players the club would hate to lose. We want them to stay, so if there is the chance of the club being able to convince them to do so, then I'm sure the club will try to.
- Toby - for all we know may turn down other clubs even if they do meet the release clause.
- Eriksen - by all accounts is interested only in one club (have heard conflicting reports, some saying Barca, some saying Real). If that club (whichever one it is doesn't come in for him, he may sign a new contract committing to us. We don't know.
Everything mentioned about the players above is speculation. There's nothing concrete or confirmed. Toby may choose to move. Eriksen may leave for Spain. Victor may be unable to compete at this level. But likewise, Toby may choose to stay, Eriksen may not get his dream move to Spain. Victor may finally put his injuries behind him. Without having a go, all you've really done is taken some possibilities as certainties and then conjectured from there. That's not logically valid.
- Llorente - there's nothing to say we're looking to move him on or that he's looking to move on. Yes, there were noises about him returning to Spain (was it Bibao? I can't remember) but again they were just rumours. His work while Harry was injured has shown that he still has a contribution to make, so the idea that he's on his way isn't set in stone by any stretch of the imagination.
- Victor - yes, has been injured for an extended period, but that doesn't make suddenly make him Jack Wilshire. Just because he has been injured for a long period of time doesn't mean that he's permacrocked. Again, nothing is certain.
- Tripps and Aurier - just because we may think that these two can't cut the mustard, that means nothing at Hotspur Way. That's Poch's call entirely. Just becasue we think they need replacing, doesn't mean they will be. We were clamouring for Sissoko to be jacked for two years. Look at him now.
- N'Koudou - again, there's nothing to suggest that he's on his way out. I personally think he might be. I think he's been sent out on loan to put him the shop window. But again, that's still only conjecture and supposition. There's no firm facts to say he's leaving.
- Vorm - Out of all the players you mentioned, Vorm is the other one who I think is close to the exit door because there have been rumours he wants to finish his career back home in the Netherlands and with Gazzanigga now seemingly number two in the goalkeeper list, it seems the right time. But even in those circumstances, there's nothing but supposition that he's leaving.
Although it's also not certain, it's far more likely, backed up by years of observation of ours and other club's behaviour, that we be wiping nine players from our books over the summer, so that the idea that none of the seven above will be wearing our colours come August is unrealistic.
Who ends up exiting the club in the summer will be strongly connected to the two you mentioned first. If Toby and / or Eriksen stay then I reckon we could see, at most, four (at the absolute extreme, maaaaybe five) others leave. If they go, then I don't see us getting rid of more then two others. But what combination that will be, there is simply no way of knowing.
Regardless, it'll be a lot less than nine.
Nope. One does not automatically equate to the other. There have been plenty of instances both by us and by other clubs where a player's contract is renewed after the season ends.Ok so as it stands with 10 games left of the season
No new contract for Vorm = leaving
Nope. See above. No new contract for Llorente = leaving
Nope. A release clause only means we have to allow any club who matches the clause permission to speak to Toby. That doesn't mean that a) clubs will be making bids (fair enough, that doesn't seem likely); b) that Toby will accept any offer they make; or c) we won't match any offer another club makes. There is nothing to say that we can't also offer Toby a contract. The advantage there is that we don't have to pay the £25 million. No contract extension for Toby, £25m release clause kicks in = leaving
Nope. See Vorm. See Llorente. Also rumours that he only wants to move to one club and if that club doesn't come in for him he'll commit to us.No new contract extension for Eriksen = 1 year left = leaving
Doesn't mean he will be leaving. Just that it is best if he does. One does not automatically equate to the other. Maybe no one wants him. We didn't manage to find him a loan deal. If no-one comes in for him, that means he stays.Janssen = if he stays he's a burden, best for both parties he leaves
The same applies. Someone has to be willing to actually buy him. What do people expect? That Levy will pick up the phone to Monaco and say, 'he's yours now. That'll be £10 million'?Nkoudou = see what is written about Janssen above.
None of which unfortunately equate to any of the players mentioned definitively leaving. We have 2 expiring contracts, 1 release clause kicking in, 1 with 12 months left of his current deal who would have to get sold and 2 clearly surplus to requirements that offer nothing should they stay. 6 players whereby if things stay how they are and have done for the past 12 months we'll have very little choice other than to say adioski to them.
Again, that does't equate to him definitely leaving the clubI sincerely hope Wanyama isn't done but if we look at his last 700 calendar days it doesn't look very promising does it?
And once again, this doesn't mean that a) the position will be upgraded, just because we think it should; and b) just because a position needs upgrading, it doesn't mean that the club will automatically sell the players that are already there.Regarding the right back area I think you're probably correct but do you honestly see this as not being an area that drastically needs at least one upgrade?
Not in the slightest. We don't have enough information to make anything other than the wildest of wild guesses. And let's suppose it is six. Which six? Don't you think that there will be knock-on effects? That if we sell Player A, it means Player B has to stay until we've got a replacement for Player A? Oh, but look: the upgrade we bought in for Player A has unsettled Player C because of wage demands. Now we have to up Player C's wages, which means we can't buy Player D's replacement because we can't afford the wages anymore. It's all speculative but at present, 6 look more likely to leave than stay wouldn't you agree? That's without taking into consideration required upgrades or wasteful squad space in midfield that's been taken up for the last couple of years
I would be happy with that and a cm and promote youth like sterling etc as the attacking options if we had to sell players. We are in desperate need of those positionsThink Rodgers wouldn't mind selling Chilwell and replace him with Tierney for half the price. Will be expensive though, both Chil and Wan-Bissaka are likely to be £50m transfers.
Ideally, I'd like us to sign a LB too, someone like Chilwell or Tierney. But in Rose and Davies, we have two capable players in this position for next season.
Makes the decision to pass on Tielemans look laughable doesn’t it?Rose in CM today at the end of the match (Vs Arsenal in the league, for future readers)
We definitely need some reinforcements there and I'll say it again; the summer TW was a complete shambles
Julian Brandt release clause being reported in Kicker.de and Bild as 25 Mill.
