Right after clearance from the mods. I will be very selective with words to not get anyone into trouble. He (Kirby) did not want to leave. We did not give him the assurances he sought which were not financial. Management liked him a lot, but our policy of keeping young players is becoming dated, and almost lost another (no hard guess) if it wasn't for Poch's personal intervention

Levy has to value his staff better, and the young precocious talent we have. Levy has been told to basically get with the times, and you cannot keep gems in the youth set-up on poultry incentives that are so dated it is now s very serious issue, and trying to address it.

Struggling to think what assurances they could be. Surely not first-team minutes for a 16 year old kid???

We are dated mate. That will soon change I think. If not we will loose a few as they know their worth.

Perfectly willing to believe that and hopefully the club do what's needed (within reason), but don't quite understand what it is the players want if not a better financial settlement. First-team football for kids that age is insane and not on offer anyone else, we've clearly shown there's a pathway to the first team for those with the aptitude and work-rate, those who don't make it here tend to get very decent transfer elsewhere in professional football, and we have a good track record of developing players and moving them up to the right age group at the right time. I don't disbelieve you at all, I just struggle to comprehend what it is they want.

So that's Levy's been doing for incentives- giving free meals at Chick King, no wonder the kids are not impressed.[/QUOTE]

Like it or not, certain players will not accept grand a week with no incling of a pro contract at say 18 year old (The top notch ones). They need to feel wanted. They know they can get that and much more, including a better financial package. Say what we want, but that is the way it is is or becoming.

but with kirby you said it wasn't financial, so what is it he wanted?

It appears the other clubs he has trialed with also won't give him those assurances. Do you know if bridges have been burned or is there a chance he could end up signing with us if no club gives him the assurances you speak of?

Thanks for passing on the information, Hercules. It's still a bit confusing as to what assurances Nya wants, you have stated it isn't financial, it can't be guaranteed playing time assurances at the age of 15/16? He wouldn't get that from any premier league club.
