It'll be fun to see the press say how great McKenna is or say he is 'highly-rated', yet if it's true Spurs are relaxed about it - is he that good or are youth coaches easy to come by?Maybe promote Ledley if hes interested?
Im not sure how good he is, windy and thfcacademy would though i imagine. It'll be fun to see the press say how great McKenna is or say he is 'highly-rated', yet if it's true Spurs are relaxed about it - is he that good or are youth coaches easy to come by?

If we could get them we should be looking to pillage Fulham for Steve Wigley for Coach of the 18s and Huw Jennings to replace Paul Mitchell and would like to see us move for Scott Parker to be involved at our club at some point.McKenna done OK but it is not a huge lost he never stood out in my eyes.
He's no John McDermott! Should be fairly easily replaceable.Im not sure how good he is, windy and thfcacademy would though i imagine.
We have so many youth experts on SC I think we are spoiled for choice.
You say that but our coaches have been getting worse imo, he should have been given the U21's over Ehiogu but imo neither should have got itHe's no John McDermott! Should be fairly easily replaceable.
Smart move would be to try and sign that whole Beligum squad... Bound to be some cream in their crop.
Im not referring to Matt Wells and McKenna but recently the appointments have got strange like Rastrick, Ehiogu, Brush(though a sherwood appointment as well) and couple of others that I have forgotten right nowI don't agree with that Beats. Matt Wells and Kieran McKenna were very good appointments at the time. They were both ex-players who were very fond of the club, they were both making a bit of a name for themselves on the coaching circuit despite being relatively young (on account of both retiring early through injury). Wells is a highly qualified youth coach who's work with the Nike Academy was getting him attention from some big clubs & McKenna was impressing with his coaching work at Loughborough University, which is well known for its Sports & Sports Science Dept as well as having a moderately successful Amateur side that play in the lower leagues.
There's no doubt that the speed of development of our players seems to have slowed but there are a number of reasons for this. First is that are suddenly pretty damn successful at first team level which has raised the bar exponentially, secondly we already have a queue of young players battling to get into MoPo's squad. thirdly we have a bloated U23 squad where progress has been stalled by squad blockage into the first team as well as low quality filler sticking around to make up the numbers in an increasingly stacked U23 schedule. This has had a knock on effect at U18 level where the large size of the squad (bolstered by incredibly talented U16s) has forced heavy rotation which in turn has seen rhythm and consistency vanish. We're going through a transition in terms of development because we have a sudden stability in the first team. Under the likes of Sherwood the first team was in crisis and flux and that enabled, briefly a window of opportunity for the free flow of youngsters into the first team squad. With MoPo managing the first team so well and with our European campaigns now serious business the windows of opportunity are greatly reduced. I think we'll see things smooth out in the next year or two.
I agree with beats questions should be asked of McDermott. He is sadly not the messiah he is made out to be piggybacks off of sherwood, Ramsey and inglethorpe.
i also hate the fact he puts himself in charge give experience to coaches at the club help them develop. If he left we would not notice the difference believe me.
As for McKenna very disrespectful but we knew this already I think everyone knows about the times he sulked when not getting jobs at the club. Famously being told he was too inexperienced for the u21 role which was then given to the more inexperienced ugo!
No drama this loss we will move on and hopefully make a good appointment.
True but he never had the experience as a coach before his promotionMaybe less exp as a coach but Ugo was a good defender in the EPL for a very long time
Yes mate that's true but ugo had never done anything since he retired did a little bit with us with the u14s but it was a baffling appointment then and it's even more baffling now when you see how ugo has done.
Nearly got us relegated last season, played the boys all over the shop, poor walkes played every position Barr goalkeeper. Doesn't play the way poch wants its just strange.
