wow, whens the last time we had a pair of siblings playing in the same team?

In the first team it was John and Andy Polston in 1990. Andy's only appearance for the Tottenham first team came on 3 March 1990, a 1 - 0 defeat at WHL to Palace, when he and his brother John became the first brothers to play in the same Tottenham side since 1912.

Here's and article I wrote about the Steel brothers which also mentions the Polstons. http://hotspurhq.com/2014/01/29/tottenham-day-three-brothers-play-spurs-team/

The McQueens were indeed cousins. We've had a fair few relations in our youth & reserve system. Recently we had Lee Angol & Zaine Francis-Angol (Cousins), Jake Nicholson & Bayley Brown (Cousins), Kodi Lyons-Foster & Brooklyn Lyons-Foster (brothers), TJ Eyoma's brother was in our youth system as well (sadly now a Gooner), We've got the Maghoma's (brothers), the Patterson's (brothers) & the Shashoua's (brothers), Norwich's Murphy twins were with us for a short period, we had the Mannesio-Kamdo brothers on ours books (Ghislaino & Sergio), I could be wrong but I think Jamie Bowden is related to former schoolboy Jake Bowden, I think Ollie Modeste is related to another former schoolboy called Russell Modeste, for those who remember left back Joe Martin, his older brother David was in our youth system before joining Wimbledon.Clayton Fortune & Quinton Fortune (cousins) were both in our youth system and going back a fair way you've got Gareth & David Howells (brothers).

Had never heard of Gareth Howells before!

He didn't make any appearances for us did he?

Oliver Burke turned us down it seems:

'I was going to visit Tottenham,' he reveals. 'But I said no because Leipzig showed enough care and attention to the little details. For a young man I don't want to go somewhere that is a big club but, really, am I going to play? Am I going to progress? Or are they just going to stick me out on loan, which happens a lot at English clubs nowadays.

'You can only look at your Chelseas, and see the amount of talent they have, but they're all on loan, not getting used. You don't feel wanted when you sign for a club, you're there for two training sessions, and then they buy someone else in your position for double the amount.

'So for me it's a no-brainer really. I believe here they made the point clear I was going to be a vital part of the team, which I have shown against Cologne and Dortmund. I don't regret not going to the Premier League.'

Atleast the lad had sense to go somewhere where he know he'll play. Sure he would have earned alot more money at a PL club but it's refreshing to hear a young player not follow the dosh but wanted to get good playing time instead.

Very reasonable and refreshing. No problems with anything he says. If we had big plans for him it was beholden on us to explain that to him. Clearly we didn't do enough and he made the right choice for his career.

Gareth was a goalkeeper, he never played a competitive game for our first team but he may have played the odd friendly, I can't remember, was slightly before my time.

On the one hand Burke's argument is reasonable and refreshing on the other it shows a bit of a lack of belief in his own ability. He only needs to look at Alli and Dier to see we're not a Chelsea. If he has the ability and desire Pochettino would put him in.

Good for him he'll become a top player in no time. Just makes loosing out on him hurt even more, sounded like we were the most serious of his domestic suitors. he seems to have the physical talent that few players have, along with the technical and mental side, a very rare combination, Too bad we couldn't convince him of how important he'd be for us or that he seemingly isn't aware of our record for developing young players. Maybe in one or two seasons we can try again, if he's not out of our price range by then.

Fair play, but pretty sure this is a PR job by the club. Didn't they blow everyone out of the water for him financially - and by some distance?

Leipzig are a fascinating project, I believe there policy is to buy mostly (or even all) players 24 or younger. The philosophy - under Rangnick's guidance (who was a major influence I believe on people like Klopp and Tuchel etc) - is to operate a high tempo high press system, and buy players to fit the system. They have Salzburg to use as a feeder/incubator club as well.

Largely detested in Germany because of their perceived "new money" plastic club persona - I like that they are stirring things up in Germany.
