I must admit it didn't look like a red for Loft from where I'm sitting, but we were probably lucky to get away without a second yellow for Muscatt on the pen.

Been playing pretty well down to 10 men. COYS

KWP has dirty feet. Very impressed with our performance considering circumstances. Pressing and keeping them in their own half for last 10mins

That he can demand anything is slightly crazy really. He should be on a fairly bog standard academy wage trying to prove himself like everybody else and not bogged down with forging a path to the first team.

So I was greatly surprised by today's performance. In the context I thought it was an excellent game. You could see more of the first team imprint, with pressing in stages, and they were pressing like maniacs until the end. Considering how good that City team was, I was actually excited to see a few of their players that I've always rated, live for the first time, we did really, well. I started off quite pessimistic seeing the line-up and missed their first goal, but we were being outclassed at the start and dependent on misplaced passes on their part. Eventually Loft got sent off and we actually started to control the game, camped in their half for the 2nd period. Their 2nd goal came against the run of play also.

Whiteman - Kicking was Llorisesque, hit some out of play but tried to do the right things. Missed the first goal, so don't know if he was at fault, but his penalty save was excellent and came off his line well. 2nd goal seemed unstoppable. Can't tell how close he got to it from my angle

KWP - 8 - Looked like a snior player out there. May be bias but I thought he was really good today. I've seen him have better games, but in an unstable defence and against a tricky winger he did well and didn't stop running. His dribbling was impressive today and he was a real threat. Didn't go on as many mazy runs as he used to but glad to see he still has that. Also put in 2/3 crosses in dangerous areas off either foot. To balance, he;ll be annoyed at the end that Nemane beat him with a one on one, when Edwards and him doubled up. He probably should have put his foot in, he had ushered him to the corner flag, then he pulled off a skill to beat KWP and got in the box. He was visibly annoyed with himself, but was the only blot on his performance, and he didn't stop working.

Owens - 7.5 First time I have seen him at Cb and I think eh was OK. He is very good with the ball at his feet, and as it doens't require him having to dominate matches there, he can build and intiate play frmo there. I still like him, but am aware he will not make it with us.

Walkes 7.5 Started off not realising who was the more 'experienced' CB but started to play better and was controlling the line towards the end of the game and taking on more responsibility. He also made a very nice crossfield ball with his left peg that landed straight on Harrison's toe, which I was impressed with. Haven't seen Maghoma in a while, but fair to say he has probably overtaken him. He is more comfortable on the ball. Definitely improved, probably one of his top 2 performances at CB at any level u21. Still wouldn't say he looked like the 'first teamer' out there, but clear improvement in him. I'll add while both CBs performed admirably I would still rather have seen Tanganga in there, as I don't believe either have a future with us at CB in the first team, at the moment, whereas JT does

Muscatt - 5 Didn't have a very good game. Didn't see him close enough but struggled today, and gave away a poor pen

Amos - 6 played like someone who hadn't played in a while. It's a shame. as a 2nd year I thought we really had a player who could become a back up DM for us towards the end of the season, but playing out of position last year combined with being injured this year has set him back. Looked OK in parts but struggled to find rhythm

Pritchard - 6.5 typical Pritchard performance. He is a blood and guts type of player trying to knit things together. Was involved in some good build-up on some of our counter attacks but didn't take control. Not his fault though

Tracey - 7 Some of the attacks broke down with him, but he was constant with his running and kept stretching the defence trying to get tho the wing. I was trying to think of who he reminded me of, and it has just hit me, Sissoko. I will also commend him for his tireless energy getting back to support the defence and twice winning the ball back on the edge of our box

Edwards - 8 Hard rating to judge. But at the end of the day he was the best player on the pitch. Though their 10 also looked threatening, Edwards was all round class. He kept working despite being down to 10 men and his dribbling still surprise me, how he turns on the ball, scoops it round and 90 degrees, protects hit, takes a touch then, a slightly heavier one to get away from the man. Glided through 2 or more people on a few occasions today, and worked well in the team. Towards the end he got bit tired from the running and made some sloppy passes which got intercepted and resulted in counter attacks, but he played very well.

Georgiou 7.5 - First half he was an 8. He was old school Georgiou taking players on carrying the ball creating problems. Hit the bar, missed another chance. Was really happy for him. 2nd half he was moved to LB did a job but faded out a bit. Great first half from him.

Loft- 4 Was struggling to get into the game, then made such an unnecessarily rash challenge, from my angle he slid in on a 50/50 but his studs were showing and he caught the player on his shin. I winced, couldn't tell if it was a certain red, but I was half expecting the red when ti came out and wouldn't argue against it. He was running around looking frustrated and the thing with Loft is he is the type of player that has that in him. he has previous, where if things aren't working out for him he'll do something stupid and lash out. I'm sure some will remember what happened in the US, but without searching my posts I'm pretty sure I've seen him do something similar at u18s a few times, like throw elbows. It's not what you want and he isn't good enough to do that. Just shafted our team already one nil down, with a lot of the game to go. Honestly though we were going to be in for a long evening. Speaking of Loft this will both support and go against one of @beats1 points a while ago. I remember you thinking Loft was on a similar level to Abraham a while back, while I didn't agree and thought Abraham was better, they were a lot closer than they are now. I don't know what has happened and it may just be natural ability but for Abraham to have improved so much in the last 2 years compared to Loft is quite staggering. Esp when considering Abraham was their 3rd striker and Loft was our 2nd. Either coaches let him down or he should have been released

Subs -

Stylianides and Goddard both get 7s did their jobs well and kept the pressure on them in the 2nd half. Considerably better than the other 2 CMs and helped maintain the control during that period and support the attack.

Harrison 7 - Clinical penalty taker. Looks so natural smashing into the side of the net, almost equalised at the end of the game controlled teh ball int he box and shot on the turn but it went over.

As I say, we played very well and could have drawn by the end. Considering this is the reserve league, the team we put out looked like our reserve reserves so I am very pleased with what I saw. Looking at the ratings they seems quite high but I think ti's fair. Most of the defense played well relatively speaking. And the attackers did well. Sending off and midfield let us down first half, there were a lot of good/very good performances.

@spursyido1 what were your thoughts for some balance?

How do you rate Tracey in general? I have not heard much about him since he was signed.

The Sissoko comparison is apt. He is an absolute powerhouse/workhorse but his technique and intelligence can let him down. I would actually say that Tracey works harder off the ball than Sissoko does but has less nous on the ball. If Tracey keeps developing then in a couple of years he could be a rotation player, probably not more than that.

What do you mean by elite squads?

Feeders to the academy

So not the actual academy groups. That would make more sense as nothing had seemed unusual to me and it'd be random to just cancel the squads seeing as they had games and tournaments this season.

Keep us updated if you gear anything else
