'He scores goals, Jack Roles, he scores goals...' was the highlight tonight, closely followed by @IGSpur's ironic 'George Marsh's on fire...'!

2 from Roles? Seems to be on the scoresheet every time!
He's got that Dele Alli thing about him.

Doesn't always show up in the larger part of the game, but really has a knack for scoring and has loads of petulance as well.

Really like the kid personally. Also think he's underrated athletically.

Was gutted not to make it last night. I can literally see the ground from my doorstep but had other plans.

In other news, anyone here know much about Jacob Murphy, Norwich academy player?

The Murphy twins had a trial with us when they were 15. We passed & they ended up at Norwich where its taken both of them quite a while to establish themselves. Both very quick.

Looks like our u16s will be competing in the EuroCup indoor tournament at the weekend. I tried to read some of it on google translate. It was quite complimetary I think it said we are the best national team invited but may be wrong. Also I doubt they'll take the whole squad for a 6-a-side format and those who don't go may give an indication as to who may not be here next year.

@Sweech you understand German right? Does it say if there will be streams or highlights, or any other useful information I might have missed. Thanks

From sky sports Lyalk
"Poch has said prefers to keep best youths close to 1st team and not let out on loan. Understand recent approach for Walker-Peters rejected."

And we heard recently that he was willing to change his mind. I think that he is struggling to let them go or change his ways. Not a bad thing I guess as it confirms and shows that what we have heard re: KWP is true. While we were worried before he now likes him.

Just a concern that it is unlikely that him and Onomah will get any meaningful game time this year.

He's not an academy player anymore, he's very much cemented his spot in the first 11. Started the season with a bang scoring 5 and getting an assist in his first 8 games, but hasn't scored ( but has got 5 assists) in his last 15.

I could be wrong but I think his contact ends this June.

Yes, it's good that it looks like he considers KWP a future 1st teamer but a worry to see where he and Onomah will get experience to kick on. Saying that Winks was their age last year and we were worried about the same thing but it doesn't appear to have had a negative impact on him.

BTW, I'm half way through the youth podcast and got to say great job by you @WindyCOYS and @thfcacademy, your a natural.

Let me look around elsewhere because that site is pretty light on info.

Gotta say I never realized I read things in my head with a German accent until I started reading our own players names in my own head with one - Kamel De Bourg rolls right off the mental tongue. The worst part is my pronunciation in real life is typically horrendous, but in my head it's perfect.

I agree, and have already though about and compared the Winks situation. I do remember us saying the exact same thing. I think the slight difference re: Onomah in particular is as @Blake Griffin said a few pages back, he was ahead of Winks at a younger age and was considered the better prospect and he seems the be getting less game time than ever now, and the more Winks establishes himself, even assuming we don't buy anyone next year he will still have the same number of people in front of him. Again I hope I am worrying over nothing but it does concern me.

While I would like KWP to play more, I am not as worried for some reason. Between all of the competitions we should have, and the fact we may move to 3 at the back at various points, plus the fact he can play in attack and on the left I am quietly confident he should get quite a few games next year. Especially as I believe if given a chance, attacking-wise he could very well be seen as the better back up to either Trippier or Davies.

And thank you mate. I appreciate that (y)

Thanks. It is a nice name, I'm not sure if he is still around though.

We had another competition in Germany, indoor again. Our u15s were in the Pape Cup. Players include Malachi Walcott, Josh Setchell, Michael and Matthew Craig (twins I think), Raff Pedder, and 2 others I couldn't ID

Knocked out in the round of 16 by Augsburg again

Yep that was the one, I was so disappointed at the time as Arse had been known for having a great youth setup for some time but we were finally supposed to have had a crop of youngsters that would be good enough. But we we chasing shadows for 90% of the game!!

Just found the match report from the OS

http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/fayc-spurs-1-arsenal-3-050309/

And here were the teams:

Spurs U18s: Jansson, Smith, Cox, Parrett (C), Caulker, Butcher, M'poku (Kasim, 59), Obika, Mason, Townsend. Subs: Butler (GK), Byrne, Oyenuga, Nicholson.

Arsenal: Shea, Eastmond, Cruise, Frimpong, Bartley, Ayling, Watt, Coquelin, Sunu (Murphy, 87), Wilshere, Thomas. Subs: Mann, Evina, Freeman, Blackwood.

Interestingly our team has more players that have gone on to have top flight careers.

Also I thought Bostock played that game but he's not listed, but I'm sure he played.
Wow thats such a strong team!

As you say Smith, Mason and Townsend are currently playing in the Premier League. Caulker has played regularly in the top flight is currently in the championship but is likely to bounce up again I think. Bryne has also been in the campionship with Wigan but has been loaned out to Charlton in league 1. Joining, Kasim, Obika (Swindon), Butcher (Millwall) and Parrett (Wimbledon) in that league.

Internationally, M'poku has played in Serie A, and is currently in Panathinaikos. He is going to be playing for Congo in the ACN as number 8, one who is worth watching out for. Jansson is playing back in Sweden but has been capped for the national team. Bostock is in Ligue 2 in france with Lens, and has recently been called up by Trinidad&Tobago. Oyenuga meanwhile is playing in the Scottish championship with Greenock Morton.

Those playing bellow the football league are Butler (playing for hemel hempstead), Nicholson (Walton Casuals) and Sam Cox (Wealdstone).

Interestingly Arsenal's team has had very similar looking career prospects with Wilshire, Coquelin in the PL, Sunu in Ligue 1 and Frimpong in the Russian PL making up their top division graduates. The others making the championship (Freeman, Ayling, Bartley), League 1 (Thomas, Shea), League 2 (Evina, Watt). Considerably more failed to make it in the pro leagues though, with 5 having failed to do so Blackwood (who played for Spurs for a bit, lets not forget), Murphy and Freeman still play lower in the pyramid, Mann possibly does so as well but seems to have disappeared. The much hyped Tom Cruise, however, is currently a trainee accountant!

In the end its roughly even, Arsenal can claim to have had more success in bringing about top league and championship players, while our squad that day has more reliably gave players a career in league 1 level or above. Both squads have been very successful when compared to averages.

Mann plays at Hadley fc the team I play for we have also had the likes of Laste Dombaxe who has been on the bench in Europa league games and Jermaine Meade who actually had a champs league appearance for Arsenal..... Micky Hazard is our gaffer!

Oh yeah we also have Steve Sedgleys son playing for us

I'm a little on the fence with Poch's opinion on loans.

What if we had have signed Alli 2 years earlier and kept him in our youth setup for that time, he would have missed out on playing those 2 seasons (80 appearances) of grown up, mens football at MK dons.

Would he be as good as he is now without all that League 1 experience? I don't know.

Then you think about our current youngsters; Edwards, Onomah, Harrison, etc.

They could be in a lower league side playing every week for a year or 2, then come back and hopefully transition to the PL as well as Dele did last season.

I think his concern is a valid one in how good is the coaching they receive when out on loan?

Would MK Dons really have coached him as well as they did if they knew they weren't going to benefit from it whatsoever?
