Well played by the lads today. So optimistic about Skipp. Early days but has so many tools in his game and nearly all of a very high quality for his age.

Elsewhere, that Maddison lad we were heavily linked with at Norwich just scored a first half hat trick. There's a lot of class about him.

Kane never scores 2 PK to get a hattrick and in his 11 hattricks in all comp, only 3 were from PK.

Sorry, I was just joking...

Liverpool fans constantly claim Kane shouldn't get golden boots etc because he takes penalties. :D:D:D

It doesn't matter how you score them etc...

Not the thread for it obviously but anyone who tells me scoring a penalty isn't harder than a tap in is just a div. Shall we just count all goals that are 30 yard thunderbastards then? Half of Kane's goals this year must have been from about 5 yards out, unchallenged.

The mental pressure of taking a penalty, especially in circumstances like anfield away is massive.

Anyway, gutted not to see Edwards yet, and good on the u23's beating the scum.. Happy to see them get beaten at any level

It's such an inane argument. Why not chalk off tap-ins while we're at it. What about the 4th or 5th goal in a thrashing when the opposition's heads have dropped? There are penalties where the pressure to score is far greater than goals that get scored from open play.

nice write-up from yesterday's game:

My man of the match: Oliver Skipp. Domineering, creative, decisive and tireless. They were all words you could use to describe Oliver Skipp’s performance against Arsenal, complete is an understatement. Skipp controlled the game from start to finish, out powering the opposition players with his unbelievable stamina, reading of the game and ability to pick out a key pass. Skipp played like a 27 year old not a 17 year old. He was always alert, looking over his shoulder constantly even when the game was already won, he dictated play and showcased his wide ranging skillset. Not to forget he also scored a superb goal!

I haven’t followed the u23’s at all, are they any good? Where in their league are they? Who are the main talents? And do they play a similar style to the 1st xi same formation and tactics or completely different?

Not following youth football that much. Does Skipp play like any current players/retired players? Want to know his playing style.

Interesting question. Older fans might point to someone like Ray Wilkins. He's not a ball winner and he's not a playmaker. He recycles possession, acts as the pivot between defence and midfield, and as the anchor when the team attacks.

Okay I don't know Wilkins. But sounds like there is not many this type of player nowadays.

Is he similar to Scott Parker?

For me he’s more a combative player, but when he wins the ball can probably use it better than your average DM.
