Depends on what type of midfielder Diop is. If he's a Wanyama type, great, would make sense if Dier stays at CB. I'm not sure the faith is there in Amos to be the DM understudy. How close is Tanganga to being around the first team? If Diop is a DM, so Dier plays CB alongside Toby, Jan and Sanchez, then if Tanganga is close, there may be some sense in letting Carter-Vickers go on loan. Equally, if we do sign someone like Toljan who is comfortable at LB, Davies becomes an option at LCB in a 3.
If he's Diop is a B2B Dembele type, I'd rather keep faith with Winks and Onomah, and a little further back Oakley-Booth.
I'd like to see us keep a certain amount of clear pathways for our young players to have opportunities, but obviously without leaving us too exposed. We have invested a lot in our academy and training facilities, if love to see us get a genuine conveyor belt of talent coming through. The lower requirement for incoming transfers would leave money in the pot to pay higher wages.

from watching some very brief clips, he looks more like a wanyama to me but i could be wrong. as for tanganga, it's difficult to say but i don't think he's any less equipped to do well than ccv, maybe not quite as physical yet but one thing he does have over him is pace so there is that. for four games a season against weak opposition i'd have little problem seeing him play.

First appearence on the bench for U16 Enoch Asante. Surprising considering striker Mukendi is also on the bench & we have fellow first year striker Rodel Richards, who hasn't made the squad.

I agree with you re Onomah and Diop, I only want us to buy a CM if they are top class. I can see why we are interested in Toljan though due to his versatility and can share the burden with KWP when Trippier is Injured, raking some of the pressure off and play other positions when Trippier is fit, so not blocking KWP.

From what you've seen, do you think Tolijan is that great? I admit I've seen very little (saw him play in one of the tournaments this summer I think) but I wasn't exactly blown away by what I saw. I'm not saying he's not any good, I'm sure he is, just didn't look like the next Lahm or anything? KWP can also play both sides?

What is going on in this thread? This is the Spurs Youth thread about err yes Spurs Youth. Spurs u18 have just played their first game (v Norwich) but all we can talk about is Josh Onomah! Josh is now 20 when do we stop talking about ex Youth team products for goodness sake.

silly comment tbh, he(along with others) is obviously still of great interest to this thread. if/when he establishes himself as a first teamer like kane has and winks is then i'm sure there will be far fewer mentions of him but until that happens i don't see how it's hurting anyone to discuss and keep track of how he's doing. yes, the u18s beat norwich, but unless you went to the game there's really not a great deal more to add to what has already been said.

BLAKE GRIFFIN : Your last comment was out of order. You do not describe somebody as 'Silly' unless you are rude and arrogant. I have followed Spurs for 55 years and Youth football to me means U18's and lower. I have seen every youth team from 1972 and find the changes in youth development fascinating. The majority of comments on this thread are usually informative and interesting. So I wanted to concentrate on u18's football. You are out of order to belittle someone else's different opinion. An intelligent person just says ' I disagree with you' . Clearly you are either very young or just plain unpleasant.

do you need a tissue? jeez.

i also never called you silly, just that your comment was. if youth football only means u18s and below to you then great, just ignore everything else but to others youth football extends beyond that. there's no cap on the number of posts allowed in this thread so someone posting about onomah isn't stopping others from talking about the u18s beating norwich.

I know I have said this before but One of the lads at work was at spurs with CCV, Onomah etc he said CCV was rapid, the lad in questions pretty dam quick could run 11.6 at 16-17.
