So if we got a couple of injuries to our front 6 what are our bench attacking options ? You telling me Edwards isn’t a better option than Nkoudou or anyone else in the academy ? I’d still have Edwards over Roles who’d probably be first in line.

Didn’t mean to come across as rude but I think you are being naive if you really believe he has a future. I’ve seen both and I’d take Nkoudou as he is faster and stronger. There comes a point when the physical side comes into play and Edwards isn’t built for the PL. Plus the attitude hasn’t helped.

On the flip side most teams sit deep and defend against us, Edwards is a dribble with great close control.

Nah I’d take Edwards all day long over Nkoudou as a bench choice. Know nothing about the reality of Edwards attitude but he still has the ability to do something magic in a moment that I haven’t even seen a hint of from Nkoudou. I actually wonder whether it might help Edwards to go down the shaquiri body shape route. You tend to find the really good very diminitive players in attacking positions are all quite stocky like fraser at Bournemouth as well and obviously maradona.

Fantastic to see Kane, Winks, KWP and Skipp out there today. Exciting times.

Absolutely. If we can keep these performances up and get wins against Wolves & Cardiff, I expect Poch to rest a significant amount of 1st team players and field a relatively youth centered team in the FA Cup.

Can we see anyway Skipp doesn’t become a full senior squad member next season ? I’m sure dembele will be replaced with a big signing but they may view Skipp as the wanyama replacement. I’d expect him to be in similar situation to KWP next 18 months picking up appearances here and there by which point he will still only be 19 and should be ready more or less.

Im in agreement with coys200:confused:

I rather have edwards, as a bench option. We have assembled a squad where we have options that each player offers something different. With Moura here, I don't see Nkoudou as offering anything different whereas Edwards does offer a unique skillset. Also a player imo that struggles with players not on the same wavelength as him imo

and frees up a space for another foreign player:whistle:

i think most here would rather see edwards than nkoudou but the point is nkoudou's place in the squad is such a negligible one that's it's hardly worth talking about. a decision on him will need to be made in the summer though as he'll only have a year left on his deal, personally i hope we stick with him and extend it but i'm not overly confident that will be the case. i know most have given up on him now but he's still young enough to come good, he's two years younger than kwp for example who is only just now beginning to dip his toe in first team waters. i don't see anyone saying it's too late for shashoua or roles despite them only being a few months younger, it's just higher expectations on edwards being held against him.

For me a good squad balance is GK 3 defenders 8 CM 5 AM/wingers/strikers 9. Obviously you will have players that can overlap like Dier. In the last department right now we have Kane llorente Son dele moura eriksen lamela sissoko Nkoudou. With injuries and in this busy period I do feel if poch has more faith in 9th choice Nkoudou he would have used him. If your going to have a 25 man squad you’re basically going to be most likely overloaded in one position as we are with KWP as a 3rd RB. Personally I’d rather that overload was in attack with an academy player. Yes they will get limited time but they could still be crucial in moments. In theory the Nkoudou spot seems perfect for Edwards.

Under 21 are free picks so we can have him whatever. However it should be a reward for good performance not just because there’s a gap. Our squad is only 22 plus under 21’s. Don’t think Poch would trust Edwards as he does the other young players. Consequently he won’t play him.

I’m not really talking about official PL squad size. I’m talking about what pochettino works with everyday and including Skipp it’s actually now 26.

parrott appears to be 1st in line as far as attacking players go ahead of sterling roles etc.
