We should have been awarded a penalty after TOB was fouled in the box.

Edit it wasn't TOB.

I haven't watched anywhere near enough of some of these youth guys but what is the consensus on Austin and Brown? Both fill me with fear when they're on the ball.....really don't like what I see in either of them.

I like the look of Bennett and also Lyons-Foster. Markanday just seems to glide past people and Maghoma reminds me a bit of Onomah, looks like he finds it too easy and doesn't always put in 100% effort.

We should have had a penalty 100% as well for a foul on Maghoma. We're moving the ball around nicely.

onomah played 82 mins and got an assist, he went off with shef wed winning 2-0 and it ended 2-2. a lot of their fans seem to be saying that they lost control once he was subbed.

Will do wonders for his confidence. Thanks for the update!

Just caught up with the U19s champions youth league game . Barca were there for the taking today , we just were not clinical enough in front of goal . Why on earth is maghoma taking free kicks , corners ect , surely there are more technical players then him on the pitch , he constantly over hits everything . For a big lad didn’t have the impact he should for his size . Oakley booth did not impress again , slightest knock and he’s off injured again . Shashoua not ready yet. Markanday bags of energy but needs to have more of an end product. Bowden was ok , seen him play better . RJ scored a great goal but missed too many more opportunities for a striker , maybe because he’s only just back from injury . Lyons foster did well as did Bennett . First half was much better then second , but we did have quite a few young ones in there , just disappointed as their keeper was poor and we didn’t test him enough , that game was there to be won

Think you're being very harsh, but it is probably just a different outlook we have on football.

Maghoma is the usual set piece taker for this age group, and has scored freekicks in the past. I think he has built up enough credit to still be on them, though he hasn't bagged for us. I imagine White might start taking them soon.

I also think our midfield 3 controlled the game and we definitely looked the better team for large parts of the game. Bowden aquitted himself well against a very good side. Abel Ruiz was largely kept quiet by our CBs who I believe is Spain's record goalscorer at u17 level. As for Richards for a man who's been out for a quite a while, and played behind Griffiths for so long I thought he looked dangerous against Barca the big chance missed was the one on the counter, but he his turn and finish was excellent.

As BG said very pleased for Marakanday and Hinds. Markanday wasn't quite as effective as he has been in the u18s but he got a deserved start after putting in great performances and was adjusting to the slightly higher level, being a really small player.

Thought Hinds looked really good again, and great to see him back in the team.

Hudson-Odoi can't make the EL bench and Sancho is in the England squad. Funnily enough I was reading City fans views of Sancho, and some are claiming he didn't have the right mentality, not believing he could get into their first team and wanting to look for games away. He should have just trusted Guardiola and they believe it shows arrogance to believe he knew more than Guardiola. And when he likely would never have come through they would have claimed he wasn't good enough anyway. Heck some are still claiming that he wasn't good enough for them despite his performances. It's literally crazy how people will defend the manager and clubs when it comes to using the academy.

And some people seem to believe that if Sancho was here he would have come through. It would have been the same stuff, which is why I am so pleased some of these guys are going abroad, and Southgate is at least trying to choose players who he knows are talented having played in the England age group teams, to bring them through knowing the clubs will waste them. As you could literally be the best youth player in the world, and you would still not get a chance in the PL, and it would always be justified. Heck you can be MOTM in all of your PL appearances and it still wouldn't be worthy of getting more chances.

Hudson-Odoi needs to find a way out of Chelsea as soon as possible. I don't even think playing for a poor PL club is useful at this point you will only really get chances in the EFL, unless you are incredibly fortuitous through injuries. IN saying that Kirby has signed til 2022 at Palace, have no faith in any club in the PL but hopefully he gets a chance at some point.

We have a stretch of 6 games in 18 days and I imagine we'll see the likes of Skipp and KWP feature. We might even see more youth player debuts in the Carabao Cup, as that game is 24 hours after our ManCity fixture.

I hope TOB and Sterling play in the carabao fixture. Part of me thinks we might see Skipp make a start before that game.

I'd be interested to see your working on that one ;)

I think it’s 4 games in 8 days with the crucial PSV game the end of that run. So with West Ham 48hrs after city it will be 11 changes for West Ham. I’d still say if everyone’s fit no kids will start but will make bench.

Southgate encouraging them to go abroad
is a tacit acknowledgement
that chances in England
are seriously inhibited
by the excessive numbers
of foreign players in the Premier league.
Over 60% at the last count.

Really think the PL should think about introducing a quota at this point - every matchday squad must feature at least one under-23 player, homegrown from your club with fewer than 30 senior appearances. I.E. at least one young homegrown talent must be getting a chance at all times.

didn't make england's u19 squad though.

cirkin(u17), eyoma(u19), kwp and onomah(u21) our only call-ups across the five age groups, tob and tanganga probably would have been in but for injury. not sure why edwards has missed out now he's actually playing games.
