Next level is where though? Realistically anything about 4th will be an immense feat and only achievable for a club of our means with a super star player in there (like Bale did for us, or Suarez did for Liverpool).

So therefore we aim for 4th - we were 6 points (and some goal difference) short this season. With a much more robust defence (already sorted) then we could easily make up 4-6 points. With another attacking player and a better DM/CM over what we had kast season (working on it) we could certainly have made up a further 2-4 points.

Will this be enough for the coming season? Who knows, but certainly we're not stepping up to being PL contenders without spending £50m on a single player, and that will never happen.

Never happen is a bit of a reach. Spending 50 million does not make you PL contenders, having a 50 million dollar player does. We could easily have that with Kane, Eriksen, Bentaleb, Lamela if potential is realized, and Lloris is one of the top three keepers in the world. So no, spending 50 million is not necessary, just lazy thinking.

You don't play a specialist DM in a double pivot. That's the whole point of it

I thought the whole point of the double pivot was you played 2 DMs.
Anyway in pochs system one of the DMs is certainly more defensive than the other

as for the dm being 'done', if indeed it is, given most of the options we thought it may have been have now gone elsewhere or are currently in tournaments (mccarthy) you have to think it's kramer.

It definitely won't be Kramer, JJ said it was highly unlikely a couple of weeks ago.

highly unlikely yes (though jj has also said things change), but time is ticking on. how can it be 'done' and still under wraps whilst our other alternatives have all gone elsewhere. either that or it's massively out of left field, or alli of course.

jasper: Not a turnaround at all. I use an assumption that DM (McCarthy) is signed, based upon previous posts conversations, I then carried that argument on. Where then is the turnaround?
