Did he even state it as unambiguously as "done?" I thought it was simply "sorted," and took it to mean he was our identified target at this point.

I think the term 'sorted', in this context, implies a very high confidence that we've secured a player, on the cusp of doing so, or there's agreements in place to be confirmed at a future date.

To use the term 'sorted' in relation to just identifying a target doesn't really make sense. As it implies something far stronger than just identifying, which is what we'd absolutely expect the Club to be doing - something wrong with them if it was taking them up to now to 'identify' a target in a position of such need for so long.

I think 'DM is done' is pretty unequivocal in it's meaning... Don't know why people try save other's face by trying to give their words new meaning.

I agree and can't be arsed to find his exact terms, which may have been different and he used another word. I'm just replying to recent posts.
Over the years, too many folk have used to term "done" when things are far from done, so people don't always pick their words wisely. Some infamously so!

Although if others want to try dissect every word, who's fault is it?

I would hope Les and others MP would already know we cannot be signing mediocre players in midfield and forward positions. Say we sign McCarthy and Berahino, make sure we have two creative players also coming in that will excite the fans. Also able to play the pressing game. Vidluka's comments I totally agree with. We may have a lot of exciting potential, but that is all there is in our youngsters. Failure to do this may see MP fall on his own sword.

Bill Nicholson's quote should be remembered here. Failure aiming high will and must (my words) have an echo of glory in it. Aim high with our brand of players, or fail aiming high (coming 5th) in glory and a cup or so. On paper with present signings and the two mentioned does not excite me.

I reckon we are going to end up short again. I know there is time but this pursuit of Morgan s and all the others is comical. We move from one name to another and one by one they are purchased by another club or stay. How many DMs have we been linked with now? How many have moved elsewhere? I don't believe there are any left worth pursuing or we will be excited by. I'm going to be equally pessimistic about our forward options.

Assuming you're right... Unless Jasper is some primitive being and can only speak in broken English; why would he choose to say the above as opposed to mentioning McCarthy has been identified as a target or chosen as our number one choice.

Like I said, people are trying to change what was and still is a very definitive statement.

I'm not sure anyone is trying to change what he said but from the snippets of conversation we see, things are not always black and white. Context is just one of many other factors that may affect how his messages come across.
I'm not defending Jasper, how the fuck would I know, I just don't think that you can say "done means done" and that's it. You may think that but maybe not everyone else does, including Jasper on this occasion. As I said, who knows?

Who is calling them out? No-one has slated the information or the legitimacy of it.

This is the discussion thread, and people are discussing what the ITK pertained to exactly.

There's hardly that many itk contributors nowadays so I don't think slagging him off is a good idea. We don't want to lose any of them however accurate we might think they may or may not be.

Another juncture in the ITK season. An exceedingly vague remark, followed by flip flopping and speculation leading to more confusing ITK. Even better when it's worded so oddly that not even the ITK poster can make sense of it.

Coupled with desperation from the board for something to happen, it's blown out of proportion causing mass disbelief and hysteria. Credit to Jasper for starting the chaos. I'll give this a 7/10 because he's not an SC poster and thus we can't ask him direct questions to get even more confusing answers.
