how much money do you think we have left from selling those players, after having bought them and paid their wages for X years? I'd say not very much.

It doesn't really work like that though, does it? That's money already spent. Money we recoup from their sales, in theory, is money that can be added to our existing transfer budget, surely?

With the discussion about Leandro being complicated, is it that 3rd party ownership stuff?

in theory you're right, in football manager you'd be correct, in our club - who knows? I'm not knocking it either way, just wouldn't be 100% sure that sales = (immediate) money to spend. (y)

AVB's paternal grandmother's maiden name is Kendall! Perchance you are related!

SS57, I'm curious as to how you came across that remote piece of info. Are you also related or have a have a photographic memory? ;)

I'm trying, but Leandro is outside my blue sky thinking envelope.

Ade plus a, Lloris and a Luka replacement for example, I'm OK with, just.

But please fellow Spurs fans, lets keep it within the bounds of realism.

Super Tottenham ‏@GlenEshelby
@jetsetyid A paper has reported Sunderland are in for Defoe, any truth? Would we consider selling if we can get strikers in (wishful)?

45s The original JJetset ‏@jetsetyid
@GlenEshelby Not this window i doubt!

JJ has not denied anything. Just admits that he has been out of the loop
True, but I got the impression his statement was kind of a suggestion that he felt the information was wrong without going as far as to confirm it as wrong (as he was not able to do so)

So more like "if that is the case I must be out the loop because I've not heard that"

rather than "I'm out the loop so I don't know"

Which to me seems like he's saying its wrong as far as he knows and if the information is correct then the ITK must know something he doesn't so to speak (so not wanting to dismiss is as you can't prove a negative so to speak)

I'm surprised the club hasn't learnt a thing. We've been trying to sign LD for the last 2 years and everytime we seemingly get close Inter or the agent make things complicated.

We seriously can't afford for them to fuck us about this close to the start of the season. The problem is that agents probably know that so it weakens our negotiating position.

We haven't spent anything like £25m have we?!

And that's not allowing for the money we've brought in from the sales of Kranky and Charlie.

Indeed. Let's take a look at our spending and money received since our last published accounts (June 2011).

Our only outgoing transfer fee (apart from loan fees) last summer was £5m on Parker. This summer we have bought Vertonghen (£9.5m) and Sigurdsson (£7.5m).
TOTAL spent since July 2011: £22m

Meanwhile since last summer we have sold Palacios (£6m), Keane (£3.5m) Crouch (12m), Pav (£7.5m), Corluka (undisclosed but reported to be around £5.5m), Kranky (£5.5m) and Pienaar (£4.5m).
TOTAL fees received since July 2011: £44.5m

And we have shifted more players off the wage bill, than we have brought in. This idea that we have no money is a fallacy.

here's the point: This is supposition. We laymen have no idea what's actually going on, or indeed what's happened previously, in our negotiations with this or other clubs! You're getting yourself into a froth for no real reason dude. I'm not having a pop, just trying to help... :)

And that's without taking into account Champions League money which we didn't spend (on transfers, obviously some of it will have been spent on running costs/wages, etc, but not all of it!) and Premier League TV rights cash that we will have just received for this season.

All in all I think we're in a position to spend, if the right player comes along, we're probably just being smart about it. Not broadcasting the fact we have money to spend, the minute people know you have cash the price (and wage demands) double - just ask Chelsea and Man City.

I am surprised so many people still believe the things Akayid says. His record speaks for itself. Anticipating and predicting transfer events and gets them wrong most of the time.

Isnt it obvious that Aqkayid has been winding all you up?

Besides JJ poo poos most of his info.

That's how I read it too. The thing is though, Aqua (and some of the other twitter itks) has well and truly put his rep on the line here so there must be something in it in my opinion. To go as far a asking @spursofficial about putting it on the website doesn't leave any room to be wrong here.

The big problem is wages which are spiralling upwards for players at our level, every window.

Then take in to account the likes of Joe Allen costing an alleged £15m. Makes it so hard for all the 'normal' clubs to keep the books healthy. Leandro @ £30m ish + wages is just not in our price range. I think it is silly kidding ourselves otherwise.

ITK's are fun but little else. Those who are 'in the know' would not be found dead on a forum.

Adeipf well and truly put his reputation on the line many times, there wasn't always (or ever) anything in it though

Its only our own fault if we have to pay £25m for Leandro this summer.

Agree, only if he costs that much I doubt we'll be buying. Another goal or two today, add another million.

Sure we've no money anyway despite Dax's post, it's all went on the stadium and HR wasted it all on old players and embezzled the rest etc. FACT.
