We looked pretty good on Wednesday night (even minus Bale) and just a couple of strikers short of being a very, very good team (and we all knew that, anyway). And that was Citeh away, who were trying to clinch the CL against their closest rivals, wasn't it:shrug: In fact, we were one very unfortunate own goal away from showing enough to continue the fight for a CL spot into today.

Yes, our ball retention was pretty good and as a team looked much more fluid than City, but with the exception of Modric's chance we looked devoid of ideas in the final third. We lack power, strength and courage up top. Yes, we definitely need a new striker or two but this as been debated to death.

Our luck has deserted us in the last 3 games. Chelsea and West Brom we lost points due to very poor refereeing decisions. Against City we lost Palacios early on and conceded a stupid and avoidable own goal.

While I agree that we need to do something about the strikers, more importantly we needed to get the midfield right, and we have the players to do that. I would love to have seen 90 minutes of Sandro and Palacios in the middle, in particular as I have always thought that after the Milan game we lost the battle in midfield, mostly by shackling Modric with too much defensive responsibility.

But I was answering a specific point.
Just saying we didn't play badly on Wednesday night.
And what Wiener said.
In the last three games, we were denied a victory at Stamford Bridge due to two incorrect decisions; against Blackpool, who knows what would have happened if Bale hadn't been assaulted and that assault ignored; against Citeh, we were more than good for at least a point, and lost only due to an unlcuky own-goal. And the specific point was that we haven't looked like turning things around. To come within some dodgy decisions and an own goal of at least 7 out of 9 points in the last three games does (to me, at least) suggest we are capable of turning things around.

I think we got away from the original point that calling your customers/Employer in any other business "IDIOTS" would be classed as gross misconduct and you would have you contract terminated immediately.
That was the main point I was making.
You wouldn't though.

Time and time again I have expressed that I think that certain people we have to deal with are idiots, I've never been sacked. Time and time again I have heard members of staff of organisations openly mocking customers who haven't been sacked. Even at my local co-op there's someone who's always rolling her eyes or making comments about other customers and staff when I'm there, probably makes them about me too after I've gone, lol, and she's not been sacked.

I was in the Town Hall the other week picking up my council tax bill, (it didn't arrive by post for some reason, they said they'd sent it twice, *bullshit*), while I was waiting I saw people on the benefits desk openly mocking one lady and continuing to speak very loudly about her after she'd gone. They were still there when I went to make this months payment.

We're all stupid for wanting better results than 1 win from 14, especially when that run contained:

Blackpol x2 - 1 point
Wolves - 1 point
Wigan - 1 point
West Ham - 1 point
West Brom - 1 point

Yeah, real idiots, don't have any brains at all.

This is how detached he is from the disappointment of the fans. Yes we had a great CL experience but there are 38 other games that we have to encounter in order to get there again.

Redknapp really doesn't do criticism. He had a pop at us fans before. Journos give him an easy ride cos of how he is with them; he has been a hero at most other clubs cos he has avoided relegation or got a promotions and maybe a trophy; at spurs however he is at a club with real aspirations. Aspirations that had him talking about a title challenge in December, so who needed a dose of reality then?

Redknapp should stop talking shit and get on with his job. He should acknowledge his mistakes this season and move on. It can't always be somebody else's fault!!

p.s. i must therefore be an idiot!

I can just imagine Harry's words if we only make 7th or 8th next year...

"Those top 7 or 8 sides are all good, it's not easy, Everton have strengthened - Moyes is a fantastic manager and they have great consistency down the years. Villa are strong, Sunderland too, they're a massive, massive club, get 40k every week. We've no divine right to the top 6. When I came here Tottenham were used to finishing in the bottom half every other season. I took over and tbh the chairman was thinking relegation not Europe. I think the fans have got to understand that this is an achievement, without more investment, more signings like Phil Neville - who's been fantastic since he came - Joe Cole who I know hasn't had the best of seasons, but you should see him in the training pitch, that quality doesn't just go away, same goes for Michael Owen.

Without more signings like those lads, then it's always going to be difficult.

What I'm pleased about though is the quality of football. I love watching us play and to be fair the fans do too. We got to forget about the Man City's, Arsenal's and Liverpool's of this world, they're away, we can't compete with that lot can we, we have to think about our immediate rivals, as long as we're finishing above West Ham the fans should be happy. And to be honest 99.9% of them know what I'm saying's true, it's just the idiot minority who are never satisfied.

Who'd have thought that in their life-times they'd get to see winners like Phil Neville, Joe Cole, Michael Owen and, if we can pull it off, David's said he'll come out of retirement and try and give us a season next year, who'd have imagine they'd ever see that lot pulling on their shirts down the Lane!

Triffic times, triffic!"

And as sure as eggs are eggs, there'd be people on here going, "He's right. It isn't easy. We have to invest. Who else could do more? We need consistency... etc etc"

Triffik - def agree with this....repped.......well i would if it would let me!

I am a Quality Control Manager for a large international company and I would like to say if any one working under me was to openly mock customers they would be out of the company like a shot.
I'm sorry that you have been treated so badly. You should complain at once to the manager, but he will probably call you an “IDIOT” if it is a certain Mr Reddnapp lol.
If this is the case i suggest you write a complaint to his boss.

Entirely agree. But this seems, to me, to be a something of a British problem. I have not encountered this anywhere else in the developed world.

Fact is that in a profession like mine you have to be of a good standard because the cost of screw up is big. Yet I see people in these basic jobs where they can't seem to be bothered to even carry out basic functions. I remember last year when I was not working I went to my local benefits office to see about mortgage assistance. I had a piece of paper with an appointment on it. It said Third Floor on it, but since there was no reception desk on the third floor I headed to the first floor instead. The chap behind the desk sarcastically took the piece of paper off of me, pointed to where it said "Third Floor" and said very sarcastically "see now the key to this is where it says "Third Floor"", in other words that I was some sort of idiot for daring to go to the first floor first. I was furious. I snatched the paper off of him and stormed off displaying my displeasure. I had to hold myself back from having a "do you know who I am and what I do?" rant. Point is, where do these people get off acting like this? To presume that everyone who turns up at a benefits office for whatever reason must be some sort of thick bastard who must be spoken down to. Nowhere else in the world have I enclountered people like this.

1) Really! They couldn't just assume; they couldn't just presume; they had to go the whole goddamed hog and preassumeEek

2) TBF, I've spent a lot of time in Benefits ofices and I'm a thick bastard:grin:

3) You think this is bad:shrug: There's a film called Stuck - I suggest you watch it, might put things in perspective for you (and, allegedly, it's based on a true story:eek:mg:).

Well, I use presume (it was a typo btw) because it was clear that this fellow wasn't judging on appearance or behaviour. I was well dressed and well spoken. I did not show up behaving like a chav, so clearly he had already predetermined that whoever walked through the door was a numpty who was beneath him.

You misunderstand, as I said/implied earlier I'm an adult, I don't think that being called an idiot by someone is a big deal, it's their personal opinion which is completely inconsequential to me.

Additionally, I was sharing experienced of treatment other people have been in receipt of, not myself.

I used to have to deal with them when looking after the disabled kids, part of the job was preparing the older ones for independent living and helping them to deal with the benefits system was part of that. Their general attitude was shocking.

The thing that surprised me about the example that I gave was because it wasn't the DWP, it was the council in the Town Hall, and I'd always found the council, and still do to be honest, to be very considerate and professional when dealing with me. I later found out that it wasn't council staff but staff from a third party company contracted to deal with that kind of thing who were rude and obnoxious.
