15:00 KICK OFF - UPTON PARK

A very rare Saturday 3pm kick-off for Spurs. I should be a little nervous considering West Ham did the triple over us last season, but I actually feel quite confident, even though we're away from home. We've had a fairly decent pre-season and although the World Cup has made it difficult for a lot of our more distinguished players to be integrated into the team, we should still be able to put West Ham to the sword. Saying that, I did think the same on 3 separate occasions last season, too

How you feeling? Excited? Nervous? Lacking enthusiasm?

Very excited...I want to be at home listening/watching some dodgy stream at 3.00pm on Saturday but the wife wants to go school uniform shopping...nothing kinky - for the kids

She may well be going on her own.

Nervous I would say. Hate those twats with a passion and couldn't bare to lose four on the trot to them. Makes me laugh that some people on here say they aren't bothered by the Spammers. It's a London derby with a team situated not far from us and our supporters come from a lot of similar areas (Essex and the East End) traditionally. It's a massive game in our calendar I think.

Excited, but also a little annoyed.

My wife booked my son's 6th birthday party at 4pm Saturday at some pirate golf course... so instead of watching football at home, I'll be entertaining on the crazy golf course...

Feeling annoyed that my token gesture of inviting some mates down to visit us at my GF s parents in Somerset has been unexpectedly accepted... Will be the 1st match I haven't seen live or online in 5 years...

Haha... you should rename this thread... "Reasons my girlfriend won't let me watch the game on Saturday."

Mine's working, have the house to myself. Punched the air when she told me. Didn't go down well.

Same as a couple of you, I won't be able to watch online. We are taking our boy to a scarecrow festival, rock and roll eh? Least I'll be down the Lane next weekend! Anyone watched games online on a iphone before? I know a lot are based on Flash which the iphones won't run!

Saturday I will be back to my usual in-season routine of football focus, lunch, then a dodgy steam of spurs, probably with radio coverage for the sound if its available, with the BBC live text going in another window to keep up with all the other games and either final score or soccer Saturday on in the background - heaven. Saturdays are football between 12 and 5, 7 if theres a late kick-off, that's just the way it is.

Fiancé will be baking cakes or something in the kitchen (but because she's a legend, she'll have final score on the tv as well), or catching up on her soaps in the front room.

What! When did they start having games at 3pm on Saturday? My rational side says this result does not really matter as we are starting a new period...but at 3pm all rationality will I know cease as I follow the game in the hope, nay expectation, of a 6-0 win

I do love the football season...except when I hate it

Confident, though not expecting us to suddenly tear shit up and batter them 0-5. Haven't had much of a pre-season really - both qualitatively and quantitatively - so our first few prem games is actually an odd sort of extension of our pre-season (with stakes).

Just want to see us taking poch's ideas on board in this context and giving 100%, if we do that then there's a high chance we'll win.

I'm going to observe our first few games this season rather than 'expect', though.

Yes. All rationality for me will be chucked out the window. I can't wait to start losing my shit. I'd become so nonplussed by the football we were playing the last 9 months. I'm just looking forward to having my Spurs back. Genuinely think Poch is the guy to do that.

Same here. Can't remember who said it but there's a quote from someone along the lines of 'football is only enjoyable if you take it too seriously, in the same way gambling is only enjoyable if you can't really afford it'.
