I was under the impression we needed to sell Walker in order to fund this transfer. I know there's talk of selling Wimmer, Fazio, GKN and Sissoko. I just don't see Monaco doing us any favors with the transfer fee.

Class is not a word I associate with Hazard. Quite the opposite.
You're saying he's the opposite of class. So he's a shit, poor, or crap? Or just plain average? Surely the most subjective and most begrudging of Spurs supporters must admit that is not the case. I would argue that if Chelsea had him injured for a good period last season we would have won the league, or at least made it to the last game of the season. Even when he is having a 'quiet' day he is a delight to watch. His movement, his technique, ball retention, dribbling, pace and all round play is just exquisite. He frightens you when on the ball. Definition of world class.

I struggle to see the need for Lemar and Barkley. Maybe one or the other, but not both. We have Eriksen, Alli, Son, Lamela, Sissoko, Nkoudou for the AM spots. To throw both Barkley and Lemar into the mix means we have 8 players for potentially 2-3 starting positions (based on formation). Can only assume there'll be players sold. Sissoko we all assume will be one, but what do Nkoudou & Lamela's futures hold, didn't put up big minutes last season (for different reasons).
I'd expect Barkley or Lemar to straight replace Sissoko, then maybe one further addition to replace Nkoudou or Lamela, but the second signing more of a forward than strict AM, Keita Balde for instance. Someone to provide further depth up top, plus be the pacy outlet we hoped Sissoko was, and Mane'esque in being a real threat.

I think it's safe to say Sissoko and GKN will be sold or loaned. And there are still question marks over what kind of Lamela we'll see back, and when. So then cupboard doesn't look so full if we want to truly compete on four fronts.

And Son is still more likely to come in for Kane than Janssen. So there will be room for everyone even before you factor injuries.

Not to mention game-changers on the bench every match...

First of all, it was amply clear from our CL campaign that our bench has to improve. Neither Sissolo nor GKN could decisively change the game for us.
Plus let's say I am not biggest fan of Lamela. Given his unfortunate injury , it looks long term and may have some adverse effect on his game physically & mentally.
Dembele machine isn't getting any younger. Relying on Dembele to be fit whole season may not be possible as well.
Barkley & Lemar improves option massively. It gives us ability to fight all 4 competition without compromising quality. Of course Poch has tougher job of juggling but that is exactly what is needed for us to take the next big step

Yeah it would be nice for once to have a player on the bench that the opposition players and fans will worry about coming on to the pitch.

Thinking he'd be a good player for Edwards to learn from/compete with in the future.

So we're thinking of spending £30-40m on a bench warmer or someone to compete with Edwards? I would hope that he is seriously competing for that first team starting place straight away.
