Little disappointing if true.
Alternatively, if as true AVB banned TS from the first team training sessions, maybe he wanted to see a little of them in action?? Why jump on the negative spin of a situation when you know nothing of the ACTUAL reasons behind the move?

Tim Sherwood has indicated that Etienne Capoue and Lewis Holtby are not in his Tottenham Hotspur first-team plans by allowing them to turn out for the club's Under-21 side in the middle of the busy festive period.

Sherwood has been named permanent manager at White Hart Lane after overseeing a 3-2 victory over Southampton this weekend, having previously been put in caretaker charge following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas.

Despite fellow midfielders Sandro and Paulinho being unavailable, Capoue and Holtby were unused substitutes at St Mary's Stadium, with Sherwood opting to hand 19-year-old rookie Nabil Bentaleb a Premier League debut when Moussa Dembele was forced off injured.

It also appears unlikely that either player will start in the Boxing Day clash with West Bromwich Albion, having featured for 45 minutes for Tottenham's youth team in a 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion Under-21s on Monday.

French international Capoue was one of Spurs's seven summer signings, having joined the Lillywhites in an £8.6m deal from Toulouse, and had impressed in his initial outings before being sidelined for two months with a knee injury.

Holtby was in and out of Villas-Boas's starting lineup, and has made 11 top-flight appearances this season, but has failed to establish himself in the Tottenham first XI since arriving in a £2.5m switch from Bundesliga outfit Schalke last January.

What a shit article, errrrgghhh 2+2= ..... 17

Maybe he was giving hem a run out to get them up to speed for Boxing Day or the weekend?

A Brighton player tweeted he played against Capoue and Holtby tonight. Seems a bit odd as neither are needing match fitness I wouldn't have thought?

More realistically he's trying to keep the players fresh and match fit over a busy period. I certainly hope so. Capoue is a very good player.

I'm pretty disapointed with a lot of peoples reaction to a new manager... People have already got the knives out and will be straight on his back if there's even a wobble. He needs our support and to be given the same chances AVB did.

In defence of TS, that article stating Capoue and Holtby aren't in his plans is stretching the facts a little and coming to assumptions - simply because he had them turn out for the under 21's might indicate a slight injury one or both may be carrying, or perhaps he simply didn't have them in his plans for the Southampton match and wanted them to stay rust-free for the slew of games that we have after xmas.

Just another unknown situation to add to the list.

I'd very much like Daveed to come in and take charge of/help out the U21's now there's a vacancy.

Holtby hardly featured against West Ham, which many assumed meant he would play against Southampton. However, he was an unused substitute, which I think was a mistake, as I think he offers much more than Sigurdsson.

Frankly, I'd start both Holtby and Capoue against West Brom on Thursday, with Dembele and Paulinho starting against Stoke on the weekend.

What? The "article" said they were not in his first team plans. You're having a go for talking about the limited info in said "article"?

Do one.

Why not?

Nice to promote from within, one of our own (despite the $#@&nal tattoo).
Seems the players have good things to say about him, been honed for the role and judging by his team selection on Sunday clearly has a pair to change things round a bit and really go for it.
Tactically we'll have to wait and see, but till then good luck to him, let's hope he turns this season round for us.

Will reserve judgment until a later date. Not particularly thrilled. It'll be Kevin Keegan football for us for a while - which while excilarating will cause us all to age terribly. Especially you, fatty.

Give him a chance. I think we will be wide open at the back at times, but he is not afraid to attack. I like that. And he trusts our youth academy and can promote one or two. Let's see and get behind the team.

Holtby and Capoue only played the first half, so probably a confidence builder for them both. I wouldn't read too much into it, but at the same time I expect us to sell at least one Center Mid this window, especially after Nabil's debt.
