Time for Lennon to take a back seat.

gotta look at the full backs. hutton pushes on and congests the
space we want Lennon to attack. Lennon + corluka Or Hutton and VDV but not hutton and Lennon. It's asking lennon to come inside too much where someone like VDV or modric or kranjcar are better.

Glen johnson + lennon doesn't work for england. you need a full back that stays deep and allows the opposition LW to push up on him giving lennon a clear run at a full back.

Lennon can do better but even at his best he wouldn't do that well playing with hutton anyway.

When Lennon came onto the scene he was amazing, then he got complacent again. We signed Routledge then he upped his game.

Again he got complacenet and put in lazy performances, once we signed Bentley he put in the form of his life. Now that Bentley has been frozen out, Lennon is going back to how he was.

I agree that Bentley should take his place for a bit, Bentley done ok against Sunderland and deserves a shot. Lennon has been awful and it'll be a wake up call that you cannot just walk around and get paid for it.

I really like lennon as a player, however when he doesn't run at people which he isn't doing right now then undoubtedly bentley is the better player because he has more ability on the ball.

Lenny's game is his pace and directness but for some reason he seems reluctant to play in that way right now

I'm sure he'll come good again.

Kept saying his last year, only substituting Bentley for VDV.

completely agree, think we look much better with van der Vaart on the right with a big of a free role so we can play 2 up top

at the end of the day mate Harry has to pick the best players in the best form & to suit the style of opponent put in front of us, on another week Lennon will look outstanding & Van Der Vaart will have a quiet one. So long as we win i am happy, but i can see us switching to a 4-3-1-2 formation as soon as Defoe is 100% fit & we will destroy most defences put in front of us.

We should sign Ashley young we can play on the right, left or through the middle and have Lennon as an impact player from the bench

Some good replies.

Still dosent change the facy he looks so disinterested, flying down the wing and cutting inside every single time,it looks to me hes not looking to get his crosses over, maybe its a lack of confidence and he dosent want to get stick for poor crosses.

Something is definatly wrong with him,i still think he needs to be dropped, hes done it with charlie, why not Lennon ?

No lets not. Aaron is better than Ash Young. I know this because I can remember past this morning, last season he was destroying fullback after fullback, setting up goal after goal and even began finding the net himself. All he needs is to regain full fitness, some belief and have Charlie back in the side and he'll be at his best again.

let me get this right, lennon has come back into our team today after 3 weeks out and gone straight into a game away from home against our biggest rivals, yet fans are suprised he wasnt on top of his game?

Before he was injured he was getting back to form and as pointed out tore Villa and inter apart.

I didn't think he was that bad and certainly no worse than most of the team in the first half.

I think the original post is unfair

He was starting to play very well - he was excellent vs. Inter in both games

Was tough for him today but in fairness we were, as a team, massively rubbish in the first half anyway

He just needs to carry on playing himself into some form. Will definitely suffer from Hudd getting injured though

But BAE comes over the half way line, Bale seems to do all right?

Lennon hasn't been anywhere his best since his injury last year. Sure, he was never going to be on fire again instantly on his return from injury, especially as he's so reliant on his pace, but to be this far from where he was?? I'm not necessarily talking about today, but ever since his comeback he's looked a shadow of his former self. I can count on one hand the amount of times he's gone on the OUTSIDE of his fb and got a decent cross in. He did it more times in one game (Wigan) last season than he has this year. It's also utter nonsense to say he tore villa and inter apart - he played well, but that was it.

He needs some real competition on the right - at the minute he clearly doesn't have that.

I think this is a bit premature. He's been over shadowed by Bale nearly all the games he's played. He still has opposition weary and that benefits Bale. We've been playing alot of 4-5-1 lately and VDV seems to want to play in everyone else's position so Lennon don't get as much as the ball as he use to. Where as before he was the outlet, everything seems to go to Bale now.
