Harry has dropped some bollocks this year, but nobody dropped a bigger one than the dear chairman for failing to get Parker in before the first league game.

As for the post above with the pecking order for next year, genuine LOL.

Parker + Sandro
Parker + Livermore (way overhyped is old Jakey boy, but hey ho)
Parker + Modric

Parker is the glue, and until the others are able to do the disciplined job that he is, he will quite rightly be the first name on the teamsheet, it was no coincedence that he didn't appear on the losing side for what appeared a shit load of league games when we first signed him.

As for Livermore, it's a case of the Pav syndrome with people seeing a bit more than is actually there because they want to, he was decent tonight but he's still quite rightly backup to Parker, then Sandro.

Bear I can't agree with that at all, PAV syndrome WTF!

Livermore isn't on Parker's level in any way, shape or form and he's behind Sandro as well but credit should be given when its due. He isn't being over hyped, its the opposite most people thought he was shite several weeks ago and its just not the case.

There is just a slight correction in opinion over him, and rightly so. Although I've thought for many weeks now there is a player in him.

Where's this happened then?

Other than many countering constant criticisms and "ohnoez" from some nail-biters whenever Livermore's name appears on the team sheet that he isn't in fact entirely made up of dog shit, I haven't seen anyone saying he's the next big thing. (Despite someone putting Parker 3rd in a list of defensively-minded DMs which raised a smile and there's always one). He is great value as 3rd/4th choice in the DM role and provides us with good, young and homegrown depth in that area.

Exactly this.

I think some just wanted a shiny new scapegoat for xmas

It's not as bad as the Pav syndrome  but it's the same principal IMO, I just think we overhype people too much. I want Jake to be good, and I certainly don't hate him, but there can be a case of too much credit.

Parker is indispensable. A must on every Spurs timesheet.

Cannot even entertain the thought of dropping him.

I agree - the wages these players earn they damn well should be made to clock in and clock out. :)

Well all about opinions at the end of the day, but I don't think anybody is saying he'e the next big thing, just most agreeing he played well last night. If you read some of the threads from a few weeks ago its only right to give him some credit, but a lot of the critics don't of course.

Its like ignore or play down good performances, get the stick out quick sharp for an average to mediocre one (I hate that personally)

Not at all mate, I praised him after the Everton game, but personally I'm not on the same page with those saying he played overly well last night.

Everywhere, and not just with Livermore.

Pav
Gomes
Rose
etc

You can add Townsend and Harry Kane to that list.

I thought Livermore played well last night, he wasn't great or brilliant but he just played well, he did his job. Did no worse than Parker or Modric. I would still pick Parker and Sandro ahead of him though. I've always liked Livermore, a tidy player who fills in well. I think criticism comes from those who expect too much of him.

I think there are a few people who cannot seem to fathom that Parker is not indispensble let alone not the perfect player. They'll always make excuses for him or blame the rest of the midfield when he plays badly. Unfortunately there is no point arguing with these fanboys.

Us not having Parker this season is a scary thought.

If you cant see that you are beyond help.

ironically it is Livermore learning to do the things that Parker does that has awarded him the praise that he deserves.

Both valuable assets to the team as is Sandro

We can play well without him. And to the poster above, livermore offers so much more than Parker. He contributes to switching defence to attack very quickly as he is more effective with his passing and has better ball control than Parker who dallies on the ball and gives the opposition time to recruit. I'm not saying we don't need a DM, but we also need the DM to be able to pass to the more attacking midfielders and Parker cannot do that at all.

Can't believe some don't. Lazy bastard. I'd forgive him that even but sometimes he showed you what he was capale of. An "enigma" I believe is the polite euphamism. I have my own four letter variant.

I'd also say, that when Hudd gets back, if he ever does, Livermore will likely find his role even more diminished. Good job we'll be battling on 4 fronts I guess.

Im hoping Parker is a huge influence on them on the pitch and at training. They could pick up so much from him and improve so much

I think Parker needs to be managed carefully, rested when we can. He's a high octane, guts and glory player and those players need to work at their optimimum fitness levels, not carrying knocks.

Sandro can't really be judged until he gets through a good injury free pre-season. He's just not clicked into any form since his comeback.

Righto mate. Can't you contribute to a discussion without being snide. Not that I'm annoyed at all, but If you cannot debate a point with a counter argument then you are beyond help.

This forum is for people to discuss their views on spurs, not to have a go at others if their opinion doesn't agree with one's own views. If you cannot fabricate an counterargument and resort to childish ripostes, you either must be a child or have the reasoning ability of one.

Please i'm leaving the floor open to you, does Parker contribute to our offensive game by switching defence with speed and efficiency?
