How can somebdy go from looking like one of the best strikers in the world to becoming so shit? Well it's simple, he isn't , he's low on confidence and anybody with half a brain can see that. Perhaps Liverpool and Chelsea aren't good enough for him. So in other words get him in.

He has been awful for Spain. Is he just too good for that team aswell?

Torres has been playing first team football since he was 17/18 years old (he's already had a pretty long playing career). He has had a poor time with injuries. Considering how important pace and movement was/is to his game... I think he might be finished as a world class striker.

He doesn't play with them every week though does he or train with them all the time? Hardly comparable. The game is about confidence isn't it and hitting form afterall? How can he suddenly jump into form at the drop of a hat?

If we couldn't tie up Adebayor he'd be a great signing. My preference would be Adebayor though, and if we can get him on a permanent then Torres wouldn't be viable for all sorts of reasons.

I love the "Chelsea would want Modric as part of the deal" comments. The deals would obviously be separate and Dan would most likely end Modric talk with a short "no!"

I just don't understand how he can go from being so good to what he is now, I'm convinced he will some good at some point but I don't think it will be in England. I think he will move back to Spain at the end of the season and I think Chelsea would do very well to get anywhere near half of what they paid for him.

If they get half what they paid for him, they'd take it, imo. He's been gash for ages. 2 yrs and is on silly money. Not sure they'd sell to another English club though.

The rumour that did the rounds in January was that Chelsea wanted to sell, they wanted to pull the plug on Torres, recoup some money and get him off the wage bill.

IF that were true, I'd be totally into popping in a bid of 18m odd, and looking to give Torres a signing on fee to cover wage differential.

The price is an odd one because his goalscoring record is so poor right now, and the media like to paint him as finished, that you'd think nothing over 15m would be sensible, but then again, he cost 50 fucking million !

I'd b every interested to know what price they'd sell him at.

He's 27. Id pay 20 million for Torres. Class is permanent and a change of scenery would probably sort him out. I still think he'll come good at Chelsea personally.

Its a myth that he doesn't get chances at Chelsea! He gets them and plenty of them, he just seems to make the wrong decisions or no decision at all.

He would work so much better in a footballing team. I'm not denying he's missed chances and looks poor, but I really think in a team like ours he could prosper.

China, the middle east or America for him. He was a great player but hasn't been for a few years now.

Yeah, you said this in another thread - afaiac it is a chicken and egg thing. I watched a fair bit of them last season and from the start they were not getting the ball to him either quick enough or in any way to play to his strengths. As this continued he visibly lost his confidence - you may see him getting chances now, but how many of those chances are playing to his strengths, and how many of them play to his strengths? And to what extent is his dithering and poor decision making now a sympton of being poorly supplied last year, and how much of it is down to him just becoming crap?

I thin it is mostly the former, and not that much of the latter really.

It would seem then that Liverpool didn't play to his strengths and neither do Spain.

Prefer form myself.
The risk to reward is to great for Levy, I would suggest.
