I'm not at all confident for tonight's game as there has been so little to like or admire about our recent performances. Even in the wins against Watford we were very patchy going forwards and looked vulnerable at the back. On Saturday we were just crap in every department. As others have said if we start slowly tonight then I worry we'll be stuck in 2nd gear again and it will be another frustrating and ultimately disappointing evening. Get the first goal however and we should kick on.
Don't fancy us creating many chances against a Rafa Benitez team though...
What did Tom Thumb have to say?Just turned off Sky Sports.
They are doing a post mortem already, fucking Dennis Wise.
Just do the busines Spurs. It matters.
For the love of god please can we just win this fucking game....and the next one.
Judging by how awful we’ve been while we’ve been fucking about trying to bottle top 4, i have no faith here. I dont expect good performances at all these next 2 matches. I just hope we manage to somehow get top 4.
Sissoko is practically a dead certainty to start.you need to have a little more faith in this side dude
I don't think it's quite so easy to say that the players have lost focus, should be angry with themselves, and it's just a matter of them coming out 'fired up'..... There's quite a few of them who look knackered (or completely unfit in the case of one individual in particular.....), completely run into the ground, and in certain crucial positions that kills the team. Maybe they do have a last little bit of fuel in the tank for these last couple of games to get us over the line, but going on the last few games, especially the semi final where they would have known what is at stake, I don't think it's a case of them downing tools, more that certain individuals just cant raise much of a fight.
Hopefully they find something in reserve, but if you've run out of steam and hit the wall then even if you want to raise your performance it's a difficult, sometimes impossible, task.
This, with a few thousand mad drunken geordies giving it welly...Crowd has a big part to play tonight. If there’s one thing that pushes a team on it’s a rabid encouraging crowd.
I’ve got a feeling it’ll be deathly silent unfortunately with lots of groaning st every misplaced pass.
Will make nervous players even more nervous and lead to mistakes and tentative play.
What did Tom Thumb have to say?
Point taken, in which case it's up to the individuals in question to put the team first and say they're not fit or too knackered or whatever, and if they can't do that it's up to Poch to pick an XI that are up to the job or, at the very least, have the balls to hook players off early who aren't pulling up trees.
Some of us have been waiting for that for like half a dozen games now.......
