No thanks. Is he really that much better than Rose? Rodriguez and Rojo have shown what they can do at the World Cup, the highest level. So has Blind but he's not really a LB anymore.
I think you have a valid point but I don't agree with the Rojo, Rodriguez point of doing it at the top level, as they have done well in the World Cup.

In Rojo's case he has played for one of the favourites against Iran, Bosnia and Nigeria. 90% of all prem sides would roll these 3. It is not the top level. It's only really the qtr final onwards that you get top football.

I think Davies is a good shout. Young, not overexpensive, understands the prem and is homegrown with plenty of potential.

These are only stats, but they don't look too good. And he's never played well when I watched Swansea. So I'm not too excited about this. I think the Ipswich LB is better if we are to sign a homegrown LB

Plus he's very slow and was made to look worse than Rose when Lennon ran him raggered in our away victory. He's not good enough.

Looked a good prospect a year or two ago, but I don't think he's really pushed on much if at all since then. He's still young (only 21, I thought he'd be older) and probably has some room to develop, so I'll trust Poch if it's who he wants but it certainly isn't the move I would make.

There's no way that graph can be correct as I estimated Rose's defensive errors at 5 million per game.

I'm not as down on Rose as most here and think he'll do well under Poch's guidance but Davies would sure bring some added competition to the position. It was a mistake to make Rose our only real option at LB--it was obvious last August!--and Davies is a legitimate Prem LB even if he's not the star we're dreaming about. For 8 million we get a homegrown possible starter and improve our depth at our weakest position. Makes a lot of sense. If Jan stays I don't want to see him at LB ever again.

It's not exactly difficult to upgrade on Rose, but I was hoping we would be adding a player that represents huge upside as well as a high level of current ability. I was much, much higher on Ben Davies last summer than I am this summer. Perhaps a change of scenery and a bigger stage would be better for him at this point.

That's what I was hoping for this summer just 2 or 3 high quality players and lb is the glaring weakness in our squad, the only position we don't have at least 2 of for each position (unless you count Fryers). Anything else would be upgrading players we sell

I think Davies clearly wore down last year. Of course, Swansea as a club looked worn down the second half of last season. Maybe too many minutes with their Europa games? And let's not give up on Rose yet. Both Shaw and Clyne--especially Clyne--rave about how much Pochettino taught them. Rose has all the physical tools to be excellent and maybe Pochettino is the wizard who can give him a brain.

Anyway, I agree Davies isn't a sexy signing, but it could be worse. How's that for getting the blood pumping!

Yeah, I agree. I was honestly hoping for, as you said, 2-3 players to address current big need (LW and/or Striker, LB and CB). And, after doing that, turning our attention to filling out the squad after selling off the deadweight and unnecessary players by replacing them with younger, potential players.

Rose has all the physical tools, yes. But, as well all know his mental approach the game is hugely lacking. Lack of positional awareness, lack of just overall awareness, etc.

By the way, Swans fans reckon Davies must be worth at least 15 million if Shaw is worth 30. You know, just like a hamburger should cost 15 if the steakhouse down the street is selling a porterhouse for 30.
