I think a win is the most important thing tonight. Keeps us in the habit.
Real challenge is against that utter punnet of awful we are facing at the weekend.

The Townsend hate is massively over the top. I know it's cool to hate him right now but he hasn't even been that bad, played better than his opposite anyway

Kane impresses me far more every time I see them both - far more intelligence and maturity to his play. I appreciate they play different positions and have different roles as such but still.

If it is a choice between him continuously shooting from stupid angles and distances or not shooting ever again. I will take not shooting as it will be more productive to the team.

There is a time and a place for everything and he is just hitting and hoping whenever possible. It is akin to playing football in a park and just having your mate boot it across the road continuously rather than passing.

Part of me thinks he's just trying to impress and thinks if he gets a goal or two then he'll make a case for himself being in the first team.

But I think Pochettino would be more impressed if he used his brain and learned how to pass, make the right runs, get into good positions, and shoot only when there is a good opportunity.

I have to say that Sandro is looking like a player i'd hate to have playing against us. Personally i'd keep him at the club just to retire Charlie Adam .

lennon for me. what so many spurs managers see in him is beyond me. cant pass, shoot or cross. the one thing he had was pace and trickery to beat a defender but now even thats gone. taxi for aaron
True, but I think he is slightly more capable of following instructions and is also the polar opposite of Townsend in as much that he passes to others too much when he has a goal opportunity. I sometimes think he's scared to score

The best adjective you could describe that half was 'professional'.

Hopefully the second half will be 'rout'.

our center are far to ponderous. They are good tackling and dribbling, but the passing needs to be rapid to open the pitch up and it's not.

Our best passing has come from our defenders.

The forward three behind Kane, need a dynamic passer to put the ball into pockets of space so they can utilize their best attributes, but we don't have one on the field. So we have Lennon, Townsend and Paulinho running down allies as they are getting the ball with their backs to goal and feel they have to run it to the player they want to pass to.

It is the spurs from last season. Ponderous.

Delighted that we are winning, but feel all the players would look mountains better if they had Holtby next to them as their deficiencies would be hidden by holtby's passing and we could just enjoy their attributes, be it pace, dribbling or beast like presence.

I missed the opening 20 minutes, but I agree about Sandro, he did seem like he was finding his feet. Can't say I agree about Paulinho - he created the goal off the give away, but really just seems like he is lost out there most of the time. I'll concede that this is not his normal position/tactics/instructions, but he looks like he is still learning to play the game.

I respect your opinion of course but I don't think Paulinho has looked any better or worse than anyone else really, he's put in the type of performance you'd expect from this type of game and lets not forget he's also still getting up to speed.

Sadly I now see why MP does not really want Sandro and isn't too bothered about Townsend. I thought I would never say it but it seems Lenny is of far greater value to the team than Andros. Vlad however seems to fit right in. Paulinho is yet to be fully judged but seems to be struggling - I do realise he got the assist. Let the second half commence.

Kane's lack of pace is going to be the making of him - he has to work hard at other areas of his game and that is turning him into a seriously impressive young player - he is improving each game and IMHO is going to become a top six team striker

Those bashing Townsend for shooting for distance need to stop bashing the current scapegoat.

What about Kane? He had a shot from inside our own box when Paulinho was much better placed. He did well to block the cross but if you're gonna hit it from there you have to hit the target

Stop usin the scape goat defence. It's becoming like pulling the race card on these forums.

With some people on here if you have the audacity to criticise a Spurs player you are either:

a) Not a 'real' supporter
b) Blaming a scape goat.

So far so good. I am enjoying sensible and illuminating comments from the comms for a change from dopey puns.
I am a bit concerned that AT is trying too hard. Apart from that -all good.

Totally agree.

And it really is wearing thin now.
