Unbelievable we go into the holiday season injury free. Absolutely remarkable. Increased evidence as to the benefit of the fitness regime changes on top of the slew of late goals we've nabbed this season (and of course, a wonderful stroke of luck).

Have a nice couple games coming up to build ourselves up before Man U and Chelsea. Hope we take full advantage.

I hope you knocked on wood and rubbed a rabbit's foot before you typed that. :cautious:

The players should be full of confidence after Sunday/Wednesday and the cup draw.

Well, that's how I feel anyway!

Great banner Chris. I notice Mason is now on 4 bookings. Does the count still restart in the new year ?

Also on 4, for Burnley, is a certain Dean Marney. He was Spurs through and through but it wasn't to be

The amnesty for yellow cards runs untill the last day in December, so resets in January.

I'd really like to see Stambouli and Dembele both start in this game. I think they've been excellent in their last two appearances and having them solidify our midfield is going to be vital if we want to beat the top sides in upcoming fixtures.

With that said, I have faith in Eriksen and Chadli to help us win this game. The key for us is to get an early goal and stay on top. We didn't do that against Newcastle the first time, but did it the second time and we were rolling.

Wrong thread really...

But..

I've got a season ticket but for this game I bought a ticket for a mate on general sale which needs collecting at the ticket office which I've not had to do for years.

2 things, what do I need with me to collect and how long before the game does the queue start building up?

Cheers and coys

Yeah, I agree with all of the posters warning about Burnley. This can get tricky. They have organised and cleaned up their act of late, and their current table position does not do them justice, due to a poor start. I noticed some are pointing to their away form... That bring my thoughts to our home form... :yuck:
We will need to prioritise fielding players who are hungry for a goal or two, and players who will work the flanks.

The common ground between the Everton and Newcastle matches was not really the quality of our play, it was the tactics adopted by the opponents. Everton, because they reckoned they are as good as we are, and Newcastle, because it was a cup match and they had to win, did not pack 10-11 men into the centre of their half and dare us to pick our way through them. They came to play football and we outplayed both. Swansea also tried to outplay us and often did, but we have more quality, so we were able to score 2 goals. Chelsea tried to outplay us and, although we showed some very good football in 3 minute flashes, they have more quality, so they scored 3 goals.

Crystal Palace, by contrast, played to stifle us and counter-attack and the result was the same dross we've been watching all season (and most of last season). So please bear with me if I do not detect a 'shift in momentum' or a 'corner being turned' quite yet. Before we can seriously trouble the top of the table, we have to transfer the ruthlessness, quick thinking, change of pace and constructive movement that we saw against Everton and Newcastle into games where the opposition sets itself out to frustrate us. That makes today's match a significant test. I'm not sure whether Leicester will try that at home, but I expect that Burnley will try it away. If we can find space and score goals against that kind of opposition, then we can say we are making real progress.

She doesn't have membership as she's a smelly student, so I let her use mine. I believe this one went to general sale eventually, but they sorted tickets/train a while ago.

Scoring in the first half is pretty vital, we know what's coming if its 0-0 at half time and our play has been slow and laborious.

A reasonably early goal totally changes everything - from Burnley having to come out more, which leaves us more space to get more goals, to the crowd not being as nervous.

Agree. Southampton as well. They had their chances to, Much like Newcastle did, as they came to play.

No coincidence we're fairing better against superior sides who come to play as opposed to the more average ones who come to stop us, first and foremost.

Hold on, so our record against Burnley is won 40, lost 40, drawn 24?? That's abysmal, or were Burnley some powerhouse in the early /mid 20th century??

tough game....no easy ride here. They have their tails up justifiably after some good recent results. We cant take this game lightly. I hope Poch has drummed that into the lads. We need to be all over this one from the get go!

We need goals in the first half so we can sub some of those who played on Wednesday and rest them, but consistency is important right now.
