Quite happy with that point in the end, could have gone either way to be honest. Unbeaten run continues.

Chelsea's best player today.

I don't know why some people think Oliver is a good ref. He's nothing more than a stooge for the old Sky Four. Absolutely awful today, he may as well have just given Fabregas his whistle.
The last time Oliver reffed Chelsea he sent off their goalie. If you think he's inept, that's fine, there's a debate to be had there, but this Top 4 stooge business should be saved for Howard Webb and possibly Clattenburg :woot:

Yeah, because now we're through from the group stages which absolutely wasn't a guarantee before. We had to slug out a 1-0 win over there and a weaker team could have more likely drawn or even lost leaving a last game to Monaco which who knows how that would go.

The fact there's so much whinging about not beating Chelsea is a good sign methinks.

We only had to lose that game and not lose at home to Monaco to qualify. Playing your strongest team for every game is not always your best team for the game. Most of the time when we play in europe the first team aren't up for it whereas the backups (Carroll/Wimmer etc) have something to prove.

I just thought that we were really poor and lethargic today, especially in the second half. Kane and Dier were both really quiet and with better squad management we could've finished off Chelsea.

Anyone still think it was a good decision bringing and playing almost our entire team to fucking Azerbaijan?

They were absolutely there for the taking today.
Excellent decision.

We qualified for the knockout stages, and it had no impact on the result today. Chelsea were simply packed in, and well organized in defense.

I thought there were a few times when Rose was a bit lazy tracking back after a lost possession, but he did not travel to Azerbaijan...

You're right we don't know that but if we played like we did against Arsenal and West Ham we would have.

Kane was hanging at the end, the 2nd half was almost pointless as we didn't create anything. I believe that taking the whole team. (Near enough) to Asia resulted in us playing for 50% of a match today which isn't enough to win in the PL against good opposition.

I just can't help but think the draws against Arsenal and Chelsea, whilst respectable on paper, will hurt us in the long run as no doubt we will take some set backs as the season goes on. We are on our "best ever" premier league run, yet we still only find ourselves holding on to 5th. What happens when this run ends?

We're quite "Mark Hughes' Man City". Very accomplished but draw a shed load of games. We've won the same amount as last year at this point but largely turned the losses into draws.

They said we didn't land until 4am. So that's basically a whole nights sleep lost. No surprise I guess we were very leggy and sloppy in our play. Shows how well we've been playing that we are a bit gutted with a point.

People seem to have forgotten we were playing the champions, with the best manager in the world at their helm. They came with the world's most boring game plan and executed it very well. I think we've all got a bit carried away after some very good performances, and expectations are too high. A point is a good result I reckon

Tbf they seem to have forgotten that as much as anyone...

Too numerous to mention but includes:
Shaw, Darmian, Bellerin, Zabaleta, Azpilicueta, Clyne, Clichy, Coleman, Baines, Sagna, Bertrand, Cressewell, Gibbs, Janmaat, Kolarov? and Ivanovich?
Shaw doesn't play so it's the same as saying you'd take Sturridge over Kane.

Darmian started strong, but has looked pretty poor in his last few outings.

The next four I could see although I think Clyne is really overrated as is Bertrand.

Baines and Coleman are very good.

Sagna? No. Cresswell good attacker absolutely awful, awful, awful defender, did you not watch the West Ham game?

Gibbs? Doesn't even start for his team.

Janmaat, you're having a laugh.

Kolarov is good.

Ivanovic, Chelsea fans effing hate him, he's pretty poor defensively and Chelsea have been looking at experimenting ways to replace him, even playing Kenedy at FB and switching Azpilicueta to his side.

So I'll give you Bellerin, Zabaleta, Azpilicueta, Coleman, Baines, Kolarov.

It was a compliment to us that Chelsea played like a lower half side facing a top team. They stayed behind the ball and waited for a goal on the break or a set piece. A couple of years ago we would have played like that against Chelsea - how the tables have turned.
Also, those fans upset about a draw should reflect on how they are now starting from the idea that we are a better side. Credit to Poch and the team for that

Maybe that's because we didn't allow West Ham and Arsenal to play but we couldn't stop Chelsea today.

Its a pointless argument anyway. Some will swear blind that it makes no difference, Some like me will swear blind it does. We can't change the result and we don't have the ability to know who's right, but for me, I would have been happier knowing I had a Harry Kane at 100% than a Harry Kane at less than 100% and at this level sometimes that's all you need to make the difference.
Different tactics. You can't prevent another team from sitting 10 men deep against you.

Can't agree with that at all.

On reflection, Think townsend would've been a good sub instead of njie. Stick him on the left to whip crosses in and the occasional lottery shot.

But I realise his spurs career is over. Could do with signing a player he likes to run at people with pace in Jan

"not lose to Monaco" easier said than done as we have yet to accomplish that feat.

I don't know anything about his history, but he was very card happy today for a London Derby match.... he was not good in my opinion, but of course I am biased :)

How can you possibly say that with a straight face given the 2nd half? Do you expect us only to ever play for 1 half? Its not as if Chelsea battered us is it and made it hard to play, they had 1 shot on target!

Kane was knackered that was clear to see. If we left him at home midweek maybe he could have played for more than 50 mins effectively and maybe that would have made a difference.

I'm not saying it definitely would have but to be happy with a situation that left us without our most effective player being able to play at 100% is a bit silly.

Goals win games, Kane is our best scorer of goals, therefore if we want to win games we need him at his best.
