not surprised by that performance. lennon, mason and bentaleb are all mobile, hard working and combative, i think that's more important than just being big when it comes to defensive work. everyone played their part, lamela was rubbish when he came on though bless him.

Funny that Martinez was singing our praises in all the pre game chat when we've been poor. We put in a blinding performance today, a radical change with our tempo and urgency - on and off the ball, and now he's branding us lucky and fortunate.

Have a word with yourself Roberto and jog on.

I don't know what game Roberto Martinez was watching,he said our goals were fortunate and they deserved a draw:confused:
To be fair, they did have far more possession then us so I can see why he might think that. We did deserve the win, but things did get a little hairy at the end. Very happy with today but there is still a way to go yet.

Whilst the team's effort and energy should be applauded, I'll caveat it by saying I thought Everton looked a pretty average team. Very blunt in possession and although we strangled the space well for large parts of the game they lacked ideas. Off the ball they were also pretty poor I felt, especially when you compared them against our efforts, minimal pressing and a lot of space between the lines. Then you had strugglers like Distin, who after many years now looks finished at this level.

He has gone off now to have some custard with his large slice of humble pie.

I thought you predicted gloom and doom?... perhaps I remembered the pre-game banter incorrectly?...

If there's one thing as amusing as a moaning Gooner, it's a moaning Scouser! Right now on Radio Five Live, a Souser blames Brendan Rodgers' personal life for their woes. Maybe, it's some sort of karma thing: he's been shagging away from home and so they're getting shagged everywhere. On the other hand, it could just be tactics....

Absolutely delighted with the lads performance today, the best we have played as a team this season.
The system we played today really suited us and all the lads put plenty of effort in.
Hopefully we can continue playing this way and if so,we will definitely start climbing up the league.

I think lamella is going to really struggle in today's team.
He was terrible when he came on. We simply can't have a player who constantly loses the ball and does silly things. If we learn everything today it's what is best for the team. Team of talent and the individual. Lennon was a brilliant team player

I think that Everton are, to some degree, suffering from the same issue was have for a while, namely that sides now know what team is going to show up and how they are going to play. They aren't adaptable.

However, they still have more than enough quality that had we played as we did against the likes of Newcastle, Hull, et al, they would still likely have beaten us. I don't think the difference that determination, teamwork and desire can make, even when the team isn't full of world beaters, can be underestimated.
