In fact including the 3 most expensive flops in our history. Has £ 73m ever been worst spent ?

And yet here is where things get confusing because, although no one disputes Paulhino has been a disaster, many Spurs fans will still lobby for the inclusion of Soldado and Lamela in our "strongest team" whatever that is.

What is clear is that the expensively assembled team that played yesterday (and let's remember that in addition to the £73m spunked on those 3, an outlay of nigh on £50m was also spent bringing Messrs Fazio, Capoue, Chiriches, Dembele, Kaboul and Vorm to the club) should have been good enough to beat Leicester at home.

I have written a number of times in the past few years that in order to create a winning culture at the club we have to actually win something.

We had a chance last January to knock Arsenal out of the FA Cup, didn't take it and the rest is history. We might not have won it, but we made it easier for a major rival to so so. This May we will kick ourselves for throwing away a 1-0 lead when one of Arsenal, Liverpool or Man United win the cup. Three clubs who have taken on our mantle of being FA Cup specialists.

This continuous obsession with the top four has changed the culture of the club and how we are seen by neutrals. We need to be a club that wins silverware. We need to be in cup finals.

Sheff United had an away cup game yesterday so did we really need to rest players ahead of the second leg. What happens if we get knocked out midweek? Not beyond the realm of possibility if we are not at our best. MP will then be defined by two poor cup exits.

Of course we expect to advance but we should also have expected to make progress in the FA. Very frustrating as a long time fan that we have betrayed our traditions. Even if we win the League Cup will it have been worth it?

When I meet players and managers it is not their money, cars, houses or wags that impress me. It is what they have won in the game. Mark Falco is a UEFA Cup winner. Paul Price is an FA Cup winner. Mel Hopkins is a league title winner. How many of today's squad will be able to show off similar medals when their careers are over?

Jimmy Greaves career is defined not by what he won, but by what he didn't win. His whole life and legacy would have changed had he played at Wembley in the 1966 World Cup Final.

We need to win trophies. We need to try to win trophies. The fans want the former. Too often in the recent past we have not done enough of the latter. We need to win trophies so our players - first team to youth - develop a winning mentality. We don't have it. We need it. Success breeds success. Keep that in mind next May when a team in red is lifting the cup.

The post contradicted its latter part with the statements in the first. Also, changing the frame of your argument when you've been shown up with your previous one is pathetic. I'm not surprised you thought it was good.

King Of Tolls returns.................

You don't nee to"change the frame of your argument" just change the record.

Your so boring in your personal pursuit of anything i post, everyone on here can see that in actual fact you are nothing more than a serial Troll.

Thought I'd post this here too...the 1961 cup final. I had a shiver go down my spine when Smith scored!

Ah, but would you like to tell people of the "agrees" and "stars" I've given you? You're just someone with an agenda against any manger who's not Redknapp or Sherwood, as well as having paper-thin skin to boot. You're a troll when it comes to Pochettino and AVB before him.

I was about to press the agree button until I read the last sentence. Great post but comparing ourselves to Arsenal as our yardstick is what small time teams do. But then again ...

Unfortunately all that shows is that the figure we have wasted is £123 m . That is 9 signings you have mentioned out of who only Vorm as back up keeper and maybe Fazio ( when he is not forced to play next to Kaboul ) were arguably " good signings " . Signing them was not the manager's choice but selecting them is.

100% agree however I think the team he picked was good enough and if it wasn't for a last 10-15 minute fuck-up it would've been and then we'd have our best XI fresh for Wednesday which is currently our best chance of winning something.

Hard one...

For me keeping adebayor could potentially ruin our season more than help it. The crowd will eventually become more viscous in regards to the situation the more piss poor performances the guy conjures up. I'm afraid for all the Adebayor sympathisers on here the fact of the matter is the guy has no drive and no ambition. I personally don't want him anywhere near our 1st team and although I didn't participate in the booing I certainly think the guy is a disaster waiting to happen both on the field and off it. Just please get rid of him before we ruin what potentially could be a good season and please get a striker FFS
It's not a question of 'keeping' him; he doesn't want to go and is quite happy to get paid whatever happens as a result.

DL will be reluctant to have him excluded from the squad and not extract any value from him.

That's the issue.

Poch may be forced to persist with him.
