This is on bluemoon.

Our Achilles heel right now is defense, and it's primarily due to injury. Our top two defenders, Jan Vertonghen and Younes Kaboul, have been out for months with injuries. They're both back in training, but it's meant that we've needed to start Michael Dawson and Vlad Chiriches in central defense, and while both are stalwart servants to the club, neither are particularly pacy and are both vulnerable to speedy defenders and balls over the top when we play our high defensive line.

Vlad says go fuck yourself...

We will destroy the enemy. They will succumb to our awesome reign while we crush them like the unworthy foes that they are. Victory is everything. TOTTENHAM RULES!!

I'm really excited about Jan returning (possibly). Many games at CB has he played this season? His return is going to be huge for us.

Has Dawson faced Aguero in any of his last 6 matches?
Has Aguero faced Dawson in the last six weeks? Has he faced Dawson under our new style of play?
I am aware of the weaknesses in our players but I just don't buy the idea that Dawson is so piss poor that he will cause us to lose this game.

Dawson was poor versus Aguero under Harry - remember the 5-1?

Dawson was poor versus Aguero under AVB

What makes you think it will be any different in the system that Sherwood is playing? A system that makes the defence more vulnerable as it is more open and has no recognised defensive midfielder?

Aguero is Dawsons ultimate nemesis - small, nippy, skillful and powerful striker. Dawson is slow on the turn, reads the game poorly and dives unnecessarily when he doesn't have the pace to recover.

I know Verts is just coming back from injury but I think an 80% fit Verts is better than a 100% Dawson.

I wouldn't risk Jan if he isn't ready, he is unlikely to increase our chances of winning this match enough to warrant taking chances on aggravating an injury.

I think it's more important to get him fit for the long run in. I don't think our season will be deemed a success or failure based on the outcome tonight.

His first game was in the cup against Villa, then against Anzhi and then Villa in the League
Even after reading that I still didn't believe you and had to Google it. Completely forgot we dicked Villa in the League Cup. :D

I remember the 1-5 very well I was there and I remember that we were a completely different team, it was early season, in fact the first home game of the season with all the Modric nonsense going on and we were two yards off them the whole game, what I also remember is that it wasn't Dawson's fault and to to equate him playing with us losing is like adding 5+1 and getting 51, it looks correct but it ain't.
As I said before, I recognise our player's weaknesses and that includes Michael Dawson's but this idea being promulgated that he is to blame is nonsense plain and simple.

I'd say I was hopeful more than confident. I don't expect us to get anything tonight and it's going to be all the more sweet if we pull off a win.

We need to exorcise the demons of that Liverpool game. Yes we have won some games at home since, but not against anyone overly worthwhile.
