Siggy..........scored a blinder and then set up one.

He's not the answer to our woes i know but in that Swansea team he is their heartbeat. Strange how managers (even unknown ones) can get performances like these from so called "lightweight" players.

Swansea playing as if Arsenal were.................for arguments sake Stoke City.
Maybe some players are different too though. Knowing you are star man and playing every single week.
Could be that too

But when do the managers actually get the players they are after other than the alternative token buys?

Fairly certain that Koeman did, Wenger would have done, Martinez wouldn't be at Everton without transfer control or approval, Mourinho at Chelsea will have full control now, Steve Bruce i'm certain gets players he wants...

Not arguing your point, but with a hundred million quid any manager would get lucky once.
But we are talking about Spurs here and Levy.

£100 million spent and we didn't get a left back, we didnt get a right winger to replace/competition for Lennon. Even now Lamela is being miss used, he needs to be up front in and around the box, not dropping back to the half way line to pick up the ball.

Lamela was not a bad buy, just being miss used, Soldado not a bad buy, just being miss used... And I think this is down to the committee picking the team and formation...

I really think Pooch has his hands tied and no one with half a brain in football keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again even before he was here.

This exact same squad, more or less, earned 69 points last season. AVB was FIRED for earning 27 points in 16 matches. Pochettino is failing. It's just that simple. His team selections are horrendous, week after week. As soon as I saw Townsend starting with Kaboul/Fazio at the back, I knew we'd be in a world of shit.

Paulinho dominated this Stoke team last season, but he can't even play in Europa ties against third rate competition. How is that Pochettino "getting the best out of the squad?"

Who is on Pochettino's training staff that inspires confidence on the training ground? Earning 57 points at Southampton with a 200 million pound squad shouldn't impress anyone. There is NO history of work product to suggest Pochettino can really turn this around without heavy spending, which we won't do.

The thing that infuriates me is that if Levy wanted to be austere and not net spend, he should've just gone for De Boer. De Boer would've played 4-3-3, he would've only wanted a few players like Alderweireld or others from the Eredevisie that cost nothing and he'd have Eriksen and Vertonghen to implement and direct the players on the pitch as to what he wanted. He also would've brought along a much better coach staff. Pochettino required transfer signings and a net spend if he were to succeed and Levy didn't back him. How could Levy not see that this squad was not built for a Bielsa/Sampaoli high pressing tactical game? Does he not do due diligence on manager's before hiring them?

Actually, what really happened has never been made clear (and probably won't be).

Because Levy, although he may think otherwise, is no football man. However, one assumes he consulted Baldini, for whose appointment Villas-Boas lobbied, and others whose opinions carry serious weight. And really, whilst the buck stops with Levy (although I'm sure someone suggested Pochettino was Lewis' favourite for the job), there were plenty on here telling us what a wonderful world it would be if we signed up the Man from Murphy. There were a lot of people rooting for Farmer Frank, too, and maybe we would have been better off with him, but the objection that his only managerial experience was with the biggest and wealthiest club in Holland was a valid one.

Curiously, Koeman's name never once cropped up over the summer, at least in connection with Spurs.

Don't we as fans get what we deserve, though? Sherwood was a bit of an arse, ran his mouth far too reckless, and had no discernible strategy. However, although his team selections were sometimes bizarre and the football pretty desperate, he somehow got the results. If Levy had handed him the job for another season, though, there would have been uproar on here and other forums, never mind at the Lane.

A few managers like Wenger, Mourinho, even Allardyce seem to get the players they want. Need I say Koeman wanted Pelle and Tadic (they were his players at Feyernord last season) and the Southampton board managed to get them in to for his squad at Southampton.

At Spurs we seem to act totally opposite. Our last few managers always had a one or two players they wanted when they started at Spurs (Redknapp-Joe Cole, AVB - Moutinho, Pochettino - Schneiderlin) and yet Levy never manage to get them in. Our managers always seemed to get lip service from the board and always seem to end up with players that are third or fourth choice on the transfer list. Heck I even remember Daniel Levy trying to buy Charlie Adam one January deadline day because he was available even though Redknapp wanted a centre half and a top notch striker.

Its not that Levy don't spend the money. He appears to spend money on the wrong players hoping that in future they could be sold on for a profit. And it always seem to be our director of football DOF who is given this order from above (Levy and Lewis) to carryout this objective out. The players the DOF brings are given to the manager and he (the manager) doesn't really know what to do with them. This always seem to leave our playing squad totally unbalanced and leads to crap results. When the heat gets turned up, as the chairman is bullet proof, more often than not the manager or sometimes the DOF gets the sack.

Siggy just scored and I've started banging my head against the table. WHY DID WE LET HIM GO?? He's not a name like Eriksen, but he gave a fuck.
He will score against us when we meet in couple of weeks. To think we effectively swapped him for Davies seems fucking crazy now.

Massive issue for me is our transfers. The manager should be picking the players he wants. The scouts should report to him and he should be asking the powers that be to get those players, or any alternatives that he provides. It's bloody silly the way we run things, and I'm positive that it's holding us back.

true but it's prudent not to hire managers with only one system that relies on their purchase. Something that the first interview with Levy should have highlighted.

Not realising that if he supported the managers and get the players they needed, by being successful would increase their price and return a profit when they move to the likes of of RM etc.

Are you trying to take me for a mug or something? You know full well what went on with him and Hoddle when he was in charge.

I am not justifying anything and I am not getting baited by you.
No I actually don't have any idea what went on between he and Hoddle

There's 3 levels of rot at the club - a Chairman/DOF who buys the wrong players, a manager who is clueless and doesn't know how to get the best out of the players at his disposal, and players who don't give a fuck. I don't see where improvement will come from in the short term.

the thing thats really starting to hurt is year top four could have happened. arsenal, man utd and liverpool are dropping points all over the place. We could easily have had and extra nine points already this season just beating average teams. supporting this club is bloody hard work
