Stoke played most of the second half in our half of the pitch, we didn't offer anything at all. For all the talk of rotation between the attacking midfielders there is bugger all movement which means we just pass the ball around in defence to the deep lying midfielders and back again.

To have no decent options on the bench and being forced to play Dier in midfield is piss poor, worse is having a 22 year striker who has less than seasons worth of premier league experience as the only recognised striking option.

Stories about us being interested in N'Jie have been around for weeks, maybe over a month but it's taken until now to complete the signing. If we continue the way we are we'll get caught by the Evertons and Newcastles of the league and it will harder to finish in the top 6 let alone top 4

I actually thought Eric had a good game. He scored, broke up their play well, kept the ball well playing it simple and even played some inventive passes when he did attack. I doubt a proper DM would have made much of a difference today. A defensive midfielder can't stop an entire team attacking on their own. The problem was that we stopped defending as a team in the second half. Instead of pressing as a unit and keeping possession like we did in the first half, we dropped back and let them have the ball thinking we could rest on our two goal cushion, and sunk in to two banks of four deep in our own half.

Dier was one of the few players in the second half that was continuing to press from the front. I also saw him turning around asking his team mates why they weren't doing the same. Had we continued to press the ball like we did in the first half, there's no way they would have got back in to the game.

This video and his attitude impresses me.

Don't know what people are moaning about? We were in control after first half albeit still not our best. A lot of misplaced passes in midfield. However you could see the chemistry working within the team. We defended well albeit as a team in first half. Yes lloris amost gifted them a goal and diouf headed straight at lloris after some head tennis. But overall a solid first half. We became undone as soon as mason was subbed for bentaleb and Kane coming off injured.

We no longer had presence up front and no longer had a marauding cm which ultimately made us sit deeper.

Dier did a job today but still not happy with him being player there as he seems to be too hesitant and passes backwards a lot. We need that decisive player protecting the backline who can play quick forward passes or through balls.

I also noticed how lacklustre we are with the ball especially when countering. We take too long to find that incisive pass/don't have pacey intelligent off the ball runners.

N'jie will give us some pace and not allow teams to push up as much as they'd like knowing they're going to be left for dead if he breaks the offside trap. Eriksen, today was a classic example of someone who was trying to be very direct in his passes. Unfortunately he only had Kane to aim for as our wing forwards were not advanced enough

Not all doom and gloom. We are quite literally a few of signings away from being a very good unit.

Please note it Poch is reading this...I would like to see trippier played next time round

Two games in, calm down. We had the game won and in out typical fashion blew it.

That's because we had more quality. Butland made 5 top drawer saves and Lloris made 2. Eriksen almost had a world class assist. Kane put in a couple of great passes. Mason had a great game.

Don't let a gutting result make you discount the ability in the side. The issues are mentality, lack of pace and lack of depth in cm or st. Which is largely due to our transfer policies.

Last I'm saying on it though.

Those are some quite serious issues though lol.

Just back from the game and it was the classic game of two half's really.
For the record if we had played all game like we did in the first half people would be on here creaming themselves, we were a different class and they couldn't get the ball.
Second half they pressed us and we dropped deeper and deeper, if anything it was Stoke's substitutions that changed the game not ours but maybe Lamela isn't the man to bring on against Stoke in full flow with their tails up. Disappointed but I'll cling on to the positives.

Poch made the wrong substitution...... He and his stupid Bentelab connection. 2 goals up and not able to control the game. Pathetic.

The fault lies with the manager, Huges made the right calls and Spurs almost lose... lol

It seems that in the first two games so far that we have been fine and perhaps the better side until the opposition score.
Then we seem to fold up a bit and lose heart which i think is a distinct lack of leadership within the team, and having too many young players adds to this problem.

It really annoys me that every season we start the first 4-5 games with a disjointed looking first eleven....People out of position, square pegs round holes etc, etc

I guarantee our first eleven for our last few games looks very different....

I just wish we could become a settled team a little earlier....
Next year is the one ;)

It's all very well blaming Levy, everyone apart from Poch knows Levy doesn't deliver first choices to his managers when they are beyond his transfer budget and leaves everything to the last minute. Maybe he should concentrate on improving his supposed tactics and in game management. His formation is as flexible as a frozen chicken and his sub's are a joke. We were 2-0 up due to Stoke failing to turn up in the first half, when Hughes changed it up we capitulated as Poch had no answer to it.
Poch was again outwitted by a supposedly inferior manager, something which happened numerous times last season. I'm afraid he doesn't have a clue and is now doing the normal thing and blaming lack of signings even though reason we didn't win this match is down to him.
Nail on head!

We just threw away a 2 goal lead at home to a team we should finish above in the league and expect to beat at home, can you really not see what people are moaning about? Take your time if you like

A lot or blame being placed on poch for starters? We have one fit striker. He comes off injured. That was our downfall. Not being able to bring in recruits early has been our downfall. But I'm trying to be positive. We were solid in the first half against a very very good stoke team. This isn't the same stoke we knew from 3-4 years ago. The same goes for Swansea. These two will be top 4 contenders this season.

As an optimistic fan myself I'm not going to start demanding cup success and top 4. Mopo is still building his team.

Maybe in 3-4 years give me a shout yeah?

I agree. As did (shock! horror!) Ryan. In fact, the Dier-Mason pairing worked much better than anything with Nabil in it, because it allowed Ryan to play more naturally and go forward - the kid started as a CF, remember?

That's not to say we should be shot of Bentaleb or anything - just that those that have been so down on Mason haven't been taking into account that he's been played out of role all this time.

Whatever way you look at it we shouldn't throw away a 2 goal lead at home against a team we'd expect to finish above, of course people will be pissed off and moan in that situation.

That's got nothing to do with demanding top 4 and cup success, fans of every club in the world would be unhappy at that situation

Diouf had several chances to score with headers between our CBs before he finally did. We are still plagued by the same old problems. Poch might as well just watch the game from home because i don't see any positive in-game changes he makes.

Despite my faith that the Mighty Llama will come good and end up a worldie, I would have preferred to have seen Alli come on today. I recognise I may be the victim of hype though...
