3rd goal was actually a very good team goal, we've been moaning about not having quick one touch passing and lack of pace and that goal pretty much showed that we're capable of it.

All the team were positive yesterday I thought everyone was looking to pass forward even Wanyama nearly scored twice that was how much on the front foot we were.

Still drunk? ;)

Not even got a hangover today amazingly, but last night I got in and by the looks of my activity feed just carnage Spammed David's posts for no apparent reason - like I said I can't even remember going on SC last night!

I've done a very thorough clean-up job though!

I mis-clicked a "spam" rating on one of your posts (since removed) and you probably over-reacted to that. Remind me not to buy you a round if we meet ;).

Sorry not gonna re-read the whole thread, but anyone mentioned Dele needs to cut the diving out?

Why is it when we spank teams they were 'God awful' and our goals were a 'fluke'? But when our rivals do the same thing it's because 'they are playing much better football than us and know how to beat bus parkers'?

Genuine question.

It's because many people that discuss football are absolute nonces.

I think most people generally don't watch other football teams for one and I think it's easier for them to play down our achievements because they don't want to get too over excited for whatever reason.

There was a post in the this thread on Saturday in which this guy critiqued all of our goals against Swansea and somehow managed to find negatives in all the goals, it was genuinely astounding.

It's a pretty sad state to be in in all honesty.

So anyone who doesn't agree with your assessment is a nonce are they? Compelling stuff, Kiedis

No, I critiqued four of the goals arguing that I thought they were relatively fortunate goals and not well crafted as has been the case most of this season and the main gripe of my comment. Our attacking play has been seriously lacking and it's something we need to dramtically improve upon if we expect to be challenging top four again let alone the championship. We played well on Saturday in the sense that we dominated the ball and created chances but the goals scored weren't actually great team goals if we're being honest and I gave my reasons as to why I felt that.

On that note, the room for discussion on this board has basically become non-existent when people get labelled 'nonces' for expressing their views if they differ from the consensus. Is this still Spurs Community or have we become Spurs Cult now? Maybe it's asking a bit too much to expect adults (?) who spend hours on end discussing football to be a bit more mature in the way they conduct themselves but we live in hope.

Nothing to do with differing from the consensus...more to do with being spectacularly wrong.
You can pick apart virtually any goal scored and you're bound to find something fortunate if you dig hard enough.

I completely disagree with the "you can pick apart almost goal" statement. Watching Match of the Day on Saturday I enjoyed a lot of well crafted goals and fully intended goals.

As I mentioned before, in my opinion, four of the five goals scored on Saturday were not well crafted and I listed my reasoning for that opinion clearly.

The Alli dive.

The flukey rebound which fell perfectly for Son.

The unintended cutback from Son to Kane (this one is disputable but in my opinion it was not Son's intention to cut it back for Kane but thankfully H had tracked the run and finished it off superbly).

Eriksen's turn-your-back-on-it-and-hope-for-the-best.

I don't see that as being 'spectacularly wrong' though feel free to differ. But it certainly doesn't warrant the abuse being bandied about here.

Ok mate you're right...If it wasn't for those five lucky goals we'd have been lucky to get a draw.
Blimey.

I think this sort of response is exactly what he's talking about - why be completely dismissive? In your first response to him you state that he's completely wrong (e.g. that his opinion is worthless), in your second you completely ignore his points and dismiss his whole post with a sarcastic response. I don't get why that's necessary?

All he's saying in general is that on a forum people will have different opinions, but that the moment something even vaguely negative is mentioned on here it gets jumped on by a bunch of people who declare that you're just moaning because you're never happy/hate it when we win/only think other teams are good etc.

I'm not picking on you in particular it's just that your two responses perfectly highlight what the guy is talking about and you managed to do it only a handful of posts after he mentioned people doing it! ;)

I think there's plenty of room for disagreement on here without the "negative" side being pilloried for their every thought or simply declared as "completely wrong" without their points even being debated - even if in this case I don't happen to agree with Sarsipius' assessment (I think it was our constant pressure and threat which created scenarios where we generated our own "luck" - the best teams look lucky because they pressure the opposition into making mistakes or being out of position and unable to counter lucky bounces/deflections etc).

Maybe I was being a bit dismissive but i think some think being critical correlates with being knowledgable.
Why the hell would anyone focus on the slightly lucky bounce for Sons goal when he finishes it so well ?
The same for Harry's second goal...absolutely lovely buildup play, beautiful finish, but no , lets focus on whether Son meant pull it back for himself or was setting Harry up.

I can understand criticism when it's due, the last month or two have given the gloom mongers plenty to feast on, but when we finally get a decent 90 minute performance with a very good result...it's just complaining for the fucking sake of it.

Feel free to criticise away if that's what floats your boat...but I'll reserve the right to be dismissive when I think the criticisms are frankly bullshit.

It's quite simple and I'm not claiming to be a footballing uber-mind just a long time SC commentator who enjoys the discussion and banter.

I don't think our attacking play has been up to scratch this season and I feel that's evidenced by that being our first win in ten, not to mention our poor run in the Champions League. I don't think the goals on Saturday showed that we've solved our creativity problems in that our attackers still don't really seem to be playing for each other as well as they should or making the right passes at the right time and I feel our coaching needs to be questioned for that.

Eriksen could just as easily have passed to Son rather than us relying on the lucky bounce, that's why I'm scrutinising it because I'm trying to draw a picture here.

Obviously the win is great for confidence and hopefully it kick-starts the rest of the campaign which was in danger of going very stale after last season promised so much.

Besides, if anyone looks over my posts from the last ten years or so, they can't seriously accuse me of being a doom monger nonetheless posters should be entitled to put their opinion across without facing such a childish backlash. It's just a fucking game for goodness sakes.
