is it not possible there is not a a tall strong center half somewhere in spurs youth or reserve set up with some sort of presence that could have stepped up and played there instead of capoue who is playing out of position?

how the fuck is defoe getting a game ahead of soldado , SERIOUSLY?????? how many times was he offside tonight. unreal decisions to start with. and his excuse now is they were tired.. typical spurs

Bottom líne and I've made my mind up - you can't put a non tried and tested manager (DimTim) into the hot seat of a club wanting to be where we want to be - we don't have the time or the patience for such an experiment.
At least we found that out tonight.

You don't really do irony, do you, old bean?

Someone like Fryers? Kurazee thought.

Anyway. Thought we could maybe win this cup this yr but onwards. Performances or not, we need pts over the bust xmas period or we'll suddenly find ourselves playing catch up and whoever is the poor bastard in the hot seat will really be under pressure. Could get brutal.

Without doubt we would have been ruined at the back, but i would like to think Sig in a CM2 was because we were light on options and looking at the weekend game.
I agree though, and have said elsewhere it was too chaotic at times.

Not in a midfield 2 but playing in a 3 I think is probably his best position. Not fast enough for the wing in my humble onion.

@MiguelDelaney: Sherwood says Spurs players too tired to play system, which sounds an excuse, but tallies with some talk about intensity of AVB training.

Same old excuses...pitch too small, fans crap, players tired... Unreal!!
Shut up Sherwood, take the blame don't be a dumb prick and finger, yes that's right I wrote finger, someone else. You chose a poor set up, admit it, change it and let's move on... AVB has, so should you.

just back from the game and after a lively start it dawned on me that we were running around alot but still not bothering their keeper, by half time we'd still only had one half hearted gentle defoe shot on target and all I could think was that playing like this next Sunday Southhampton will destroy us.
good game from Adebayor, he obviously had his "I can be arsed today" pants on, lets hope they don't get lost in the laundry for the rest of the season.
worst thing is that I'm not really bothered.

Thought Sherwood did the right thing and actually got really unlucky today. Instead of trying to please the crowd with an early win he was brave and saved our best midfielders for the prem game and subbed off the vital players who had to start today. I wanted us to win the Cup but here's the honest truth, that cup is worth jack shit to the long term future of Tottenham Hotspurs compared to the Prem. Look at some of the recent teams to win the League and F.A cups. The prem is our future and at the moment we can still claim a Champions League spot. Add that to a brand shiny new stadium and we have pulling power. A League Cup and a 5th place finish get's you eternal mediocrity. Sherwood get's that. I am just completely fucking gutted that he got unlucky with West Ham being a bunch of win-thieving lucky nobodies and didn't get that confidence boost to take in to the weekend

What gives you the impression he thinks like that?

He put out a first team and risked Chiriches and Rose with packed PL fixture list coming up and our defence paper thin. He played a high tempo game and 2 strikers and he looked like someone had pissed on his chips when we lost - he absolutely wanted to win tonight.

After reading most comments here I wonder if people actually understand football.

Ade and Rose lacked physical fitness from lack of game time.

Our Central defense is weak due to injuries, and a make shift defense in place.

this was a London derby, TS said he needed high tempo, pressing game..meaning no place for saldado and lamela.

TS has just had 2days training with the players and you want a miracle. Shit happen, we lost, we move on.

i am glad as i saw urgency and high tempo game form us which I haven't seen all season.

most of all Ade looked good upfront, possessed a treat, the fans where full of voice, and i enjoyed the game even though we lost.

Fucking right he absolutely wanted to win. So did I. I wouldn't risk my most important players though. Chiriches and Rose needed game time and we had no other competent defenders to cover

very conservative choice of players except Ade and tactically nothing so sack the manager again please!
If we are going to build a great team start with the best players not the likes of Siggy and Defoe

Whoever came up with the offside rule and made the goals the size they are has a lot to answer for, we'd have a world class striker on our hands if those two minor details didn't exist. For the last 150 fucking years.

100% spot on! But Soldado over Defoe every game! Pressing or not pressing.

Reasons to be cheerful - it was an experimental team, playing an experimental way in the League Cup for fuck sake.
Let's reserve judgement until after Southampton.
So we've been knocked out. I recall Chelsea were knocked out last night and they have the Special One in charge.

I went to the game today and I can't go to many so I was really looking forward to it.

But Fuck Me. Fuck. Me.

How the fuck did we lose to these ****s. HOW? We were absolutely dominating them and we have now lost to them TWICE at WHL. WHL used to be a fortress- now it is a place for teams to pick up easy points.

In Summary:
Defoe was Atrocious
Adebayor was great
I am angry and pissed off.
The West Ham fans had an Italy flag showing their loyalty to Lazio.
We had much more possession. YAY.
We have the same problems.
The players looked like they couldn't give a shit at times.
We need a new manager. Quickly. A fucking good manager.
Again, How the fuck did we lose?

Just back from the game, can't believe west ham was so shit and still won, and do easily could of been 3-1. To me it was clear as day - they don't want or didn't want to play for 'Tim', we had no belief and the selection....dont get me started. Why was Gylfi our holding player for the last 10 minutes? fuck sake twice in 6 weeks we beaten by a bang average team.
