From Chris, Ruislip, via text on 81111: "Eight of Spurs' nine goals were scored by players that were playing for Pompey last season - little wonder they cannot score today!

Crouch-1
Defoe-5
Kranjcar-1

=7

Lennon-1
Bentley/Kirkland-1
=2

8 out of the 9 were scored by English players, but only 7 of the 9 by ex-Portsmout players

I wonder how many of the headlines tomorow will have some variation of the phrase 'Cloud 9'.

Well pi$$ed off I had to miss this one as had to go to a BBQ - but the 20oz T-Bone and ice cold beer for 5 quid was compensation of sorts. Now where's that match download......

Maybe it's just me, but theres a certain verve about Kranjcar, the way he run with the ball and some of the crosses he puts in, it reminds me just a little of a certain great frenchman who left our club at the start of the millenium.

Defoe was brilliant in the second half today and his finishing was top class, but the man of the match for me was Lennon. I can't think of a better winger in this league. He murdered Edman, his crossing and passing was brilliant and he gets back and helps the defence ever time. All this in his first game back after a few weeks out (no wonder he was shattered).

Huddlestone was also back to his best. I've criticised him a lot lately but for the first 20 minutes, and the whole second half, he was a pure playmaker. Having Kranjcar there, in the same way as when Modric was there at the start of the season, it just seems to give Huddlestone that extra bit of space and time that he needs to dominate a game.

Even though by then the game was a non event, I was very happy that Bentley managed to make an impact when he came on with a goal and an assist. He did well for the Kranjcar goal and it was a sweet free kick (I haven't seen a replay but I don't buy this own goal bollocks) for his goal.

One point which might have been missed, not sure, but Ekotto was back to his best today I thought. Some of his passing out of defence was superb, and he fought a lot for us when we looked like we might let things slip at one stage.

See what a simple formation with players in their normal roles can do Harry? I hope this puts to bed any thoughts of accomodating all the central midfielders or all the centre forwards. 442 or bust as far as I'm concerned.

Wonderful day. Fantastic!

Completely agree with everything written there, except for one thing. Ekotto was good, but I don't know where he was for Scharner's goal.

FFS - the Sky highlights should be on, but instead there's Tennis

And in all the listings and the Sky box info thing it reads that there should be the highlights

And to think I was concerned at our missed chances at half-time...
Superb performances from all. Spectacular from Lennon & Defoe.
Must be a strange feeling for Bentley - great to come on a do well, but witness exactly why he will not get regular football at Spurs.
Cannot wait to see the Gooner at work!

I feel bad for him because I think he is a great guy and a decent footballer but Eric Edman had a horrible outing today, one of the worst I've seen all season. Every single goal came from his side.

Look amazing result but a word of sympathy for Wigan - Martinez is a good young manager and plays the game the right way but his team did him no favours whatsoever.

I would somehow liked to have Stoke, Bolton,Hull, Blackburn (or any team tainted by Sam Allardyce (may he recover quickly) and his minions) etc. to be on the end of that result. It would have been a victory for true football

Today, the stream and the team were a dream (there would seem to be a theme).

It's my old man's birthday today too and he couldn't believe the amount of shouting and cheering I was doing upstairs on my PC. Mine's in three weeks' time and I hope we get a similar result which would be the icing (as well as the candles) on the cake.

INCREDIBLE and it was 1-0 at half-time!!! AND they even had to Theirry Scharner the ball for their goal! Defoe-ON fire, incredible finishing,Lennon world class,CM's so creative,Defence did well just amazing to watch that is the Spurs of old i.e the 1960's where we'd blow teams away!

OH and Harry 4-4-2 with 2 wide men!!!!!-LOVE IT!

Just hope Martinez gets the time he needs at Wigan because he plays the game in the right way. This sort of result and their league placing puts pressure on the chairman, and he needs time to turn things around.
