You told the world that there's no way Levy's is going to fund a purchase of Casemiro when I suggested Spurs to go after him....and now you yourself is suggesting him o_O
And there is NO way Spurs can afford Neymar nor that he will join Spurs - even if Levy was willing to break the bank for him. Both Barca and Real M. have put in bids for him and are ready to go very far to get him - and shouldn't they get him, then ManC, Chelsea and ManU are going to bid like crazy to get him, as are PS Germain.

Yeah forget Neymar we aren't a good enough club for him.

Playing well at West Brom from the little I've seen. Looks like he has a lot of potential.

Well I was just thinking; we really really need a back-up for Adebayor and this guy is in the Drogba mold which suits us perfectly. He's only 19! (can that be right?) so plenty of room for improvement and would be happier than most strikers to be a stand in rather than the main man. It doesn't look like Chelski are massively bothered and we can maybe use our new Belgian connections to sell the club to him. Admittedly I've not really seen him play much which of course makes me sound daft but just going by the descriptions I'd heard of him and the current situation it could be worth taking a gamble in January.

1) Chelsea paid about 20 million for him. Imagine how much they'd want to sell him for...
2) Why would Chelsea sell him to us? Why would Chelsea sell him full stop. Extremely talented youngster and the only out and out striker they have is Torres.

I doubt he's a realistic target for us now.

Chelsea giving him Prem experience is no different to us loaning out Rose, Walker and Kane to Prem clubs. Not a sign that he's out of favour.

Honestly guys, the only player I could see us getting from within the PL is Ba, as he has fallen out of favor with Newcastle. We might even be able to pull off Dzeko/Balo, but they will be more than we can afford. The rest of the names you guys are offering are on teams that lack depth at their position. No team in their right mind will sell off an in-need or rotation player during the January window. You are only going to be able to buy guys from squads that are super-packed at that position (City) or under-rate the player (Ba).

Disagree. The real issue is wages.

There are talks about Ba being on 70k a week. Not sure if true but we rarely pay those sort of wages to a new player. Man City strikers are on well in excess of 100k and the only way we got Adebayor was through months of negotiating them to pay half his wages for 2 seasons. They won't do the same for Dzeko or Ballotelli as they are still playing, Adebayor was well out of favour.

Looking at the smaller teams and offering a little extra in transfer fee saves money in the long-run and sometimes a player's head at a smaller club will be turned more than a player at a top club.

And that's why we stand a better chance of bringing in a decent player from abroad than from here because British based players are over priced, over paid and clubs are usually unwilling to sell to direct competitors.

Very true. I just don't know if/when Levy will learn that sometimes you gotta gamble on guys when you know they are under the radar. Because even if you wait for the next transfer window, that can be all it takes for the rest of the world to really catch on/up because that same player can blow up onto the world scene just as quickly.

Not really related your post other than that I agree players from the PL are usually overpriced unless they have a ton of baggage for whatever reason.

Isco's release clause is 17m, and Willian's is said to be 28m. I would MUCH rather have Isco, but I doubt we will get either. I think wages will be a problem for all of these players except Eriksen

I thin we've missed the boat on Willian. We should have gotten him much earlier, can't see us having a chance now that he's been performing extremely well in the CL. I thought he was good last year, but this year he's been amazing. If he leaves he'll leave for a bigger club than Spurs. We simply can't afford a player like that.

Shakhtar are already through to the next round of the CL, have enough money to keep Willian and can easily match Spurs salaries + many richer clubs are now after him. Next...

Sorry of this has already been said, haven't read through every page.

James Rodriguez anyone?

Can play anywhere long the 3 in 4231. C'mon AVB, use your Porto links ;)

Agree. Should be an easy signing IMO. Trigger release clause, very quickly agree terms with the player and boom he's ours.

We then have the rest of the window to fuck about trying to sign a striker and a CM.

Here was me thinking it was; key in given number, select relevant drop down and hit return.

Some of you need to stop thinking in terms of the January transfer window being a month long opportunity to make a signing. As has been proven for the last several Januaries, Daniel Levy will not even turn his mind to signings until approximately three hours before the window closes, seal a deal for some clapped out old has been such as Ricardo Carvalho 14 seconds before the close at which point he'll whop his old chap out and vigorously strum it in a fit of excitement at having lowballed the selling club by £10.50.

I can see him now, thrashing maniacally at his tallytwhacker, jumping and jerking around his office, scattering furniture and paperwork all over the place until he finally drenches the photo of Alan Sugar he keep stuck to the dartboard with dwarfy goo.

Either that or we'll sign Moutinho on the 1st of the month. Which is likliest? :sneaky:

Some of you need to thinking that signing players is as easy as it is on Football Manager.

We are so far down the food chain when it comes to signing players we have to wait until the final days. If we like a plyer who is available then chances are the selling club will hold out to see if they will get better offers. Only clubs like Man City/Chelea sign players quickly and easily because they pay exactly what the player/club demands.

I feel a touch of deja vu explaining all this again.

that isn't true for all players though. willian was practically begging to join us and moutinho openly stated how much he wants to work with avb again as well.

Player's words or agent's? Even if that were the case then you've still got to dick around with their club. I do wish it were easier but we just don't have the financial clout nor the club reputation.
