Two clean sheets from two is a terrific effort. This tournament sounds the nuts. Especially when you consider the difficulty even other South American sides have of playing at altitude. Expect things will get tougher as the tough schedule continues, but it's already a very creditable performance.

well played the lads - some of them shouldn't be over there in our hour of need - but as they are hope it goes great

the need will dissipate substantially if we sign cc and pc today - but our squad is way stretched ATM

And so far after three games we have as good a win/loss ratio as anyone in the competition. The only team that could still start with three wins is the Mexican National Team whose third result is yet to come in.

Ryan Mason scored the only goal yesterday. Puts him on 3 for the tournament.

We play Stabaek today who have lost all three so far. Fingers crossed that we make it 10 points from a possible 12.

Even if we win today it's likely that we'll need at least a draw against Cruz Azul tomorrow to make it through to the quarter-finals. If we lose we'll need a win (and may need other results to go our way).

We have to thump Stabæk, got a couple of friends who live in Oslo and are Stabæk fans so even if it's just youth games they will rip the piss out of me if they beat us. Especially as I've hyped up our academy as one of the best in the country in the last two years.

LATEST NEWS (official site) Lads too hot for Chileans

Our Under-18s made it two wins and a draw in the Copa Chivas tournament in Mexico with a 1-0 victory against Club Deportivo Universidad Catolica of Chile on Monday.
Ryan Mason struck his third goal of the tournament to secure the victory in 85-degree heat at the Chivas San Rafael Stadium in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, Mexico.
Just as impressively, the lads kept their third-successive clean sheet in Group A.
Coach Alex Inglethorpe reported: "We really noticed the temperature in this one, it was up to 85 degrees and we were up against the Chilean champions who had won their first two games.
"We went 1-0 up after 20 minutes after a great move finished by Ryan Mason after a lovely touch from Paul-Jose M'poku.
"We had the better chances in that first half and Paul-Jose went close with a header from Ryan's cross later in the half.
"We came under more pressure in the second half but I have to say the lads were fantastic. Defensively we were outstanding - Oscar Jansson, Nathan Byrne, Adam Smith, Calum Butcher and Steven Caulker with Sam Cox just in front of them in a defensive midfield role.
"We had one further chance late on when Andros Townsend went though on goal but the keeper made a good save.
"To have kept three clean sheets so far is a superb achievement, especially against the teams we are playing against out here.
"The teams are highly technical, highly tactical and it's exactly what you would expect of South American opposition. There so much talent out here.

"The standard of play is phenomenal but the lads have adapted well to the conditions, we're playing well and we've picked up great results so far with some top-class performances."
The lads next face Norwegian side Stabaek at Club Providencia Stadium, Zapopan, Jalisco later today.

Spurs: Jansson, Smith, Byrne, Cox, Caulker, Butcher, M'poku (Townsend), Parrett, Obika (Fraser-Allen), Mason, Kasim (Bostock).

...

Anyone know anything about Alex Smith, I thought our promising right back (the guy that got to play a bit in the pre-season) was Adam Smith ??? Nice to see the lads doing well, these guys looks like the most promising batch of youngsters we've had in a long long time.

You gotta give Comolli credit for that, along with Inglethorpe. After Redknapp is done with us I'd like to see the DoF system back (not Comolli back with it mind!) with Clive Allen and Inglethorpe as our coaches.. Think that would be a cool longterm view that I'd be proud to support. And both of them obviously seems to have some coaching skills...

Alex Smith was a trainee right back we released two years ago. (I thought he looked quite good the one time I saw him, no idea what he is doing now.) Possibly Adam's older brother? Someone anyway is getting confused!

What is the point of Spurs tv?? They should be showing these games or at least have extended highlights, our reserves and u18 seem to have more idea on how to win, would be nice to watch.
