I thought it was a good read. Doesn't confine some of his behaviour and there's a bit of puff about it for my tastes, but it's a good read.

I'm far more interested in Suarez the man now, but rather than hate him the way some of you seem to, I see a guy who did everything wrong when he got here, let down everyone who supported and stood up for him with the bite and the alleged racism, and has since taken stock and improved himself as a man and as a footballer. He's a controversial character but he's also become a great leader and as far as I know one who behaves far better than he used to (though I wish he wouldn't dive).

We all make mistakes, it's how we respond that defines us. I think he's responded well over the past year.

I take all of this back. The man is a scumbag and should have his head put on the proverbial chopping block.

A Liverpool 'fan' I know defended him as 'passionate'. I replied by saying that foreplay doesn't belong on a football pitch either.

Passionate.

There are absolutely no grounds for justification. He is not unique in his upbringing many others have walked in the same shoes as he has through his life, and yet they choose not to be animals on the pitch.

There is always someone who thinks they "understand" them and why they do this sort of thing.

Who cares what the reasons are! I don't remember one player causing so much controversy as Suarez in recent years and he continues to do it.

To me this is the same as day release prisoners who go on the run. Who'd expect that huh? Anyone?

It also does not matter one iota how much talent he has that should not be used to excuse him. He needs to be punished hard. Not just banned from the rest of the World Cup but also banned from International football for two years and banned from the next World Cup.

The question is, as it is FIFA, do you ban him at club level too? That I can't see happening but I think it should.

Some are going way over the top with this. Talking about killing him and he doesn't deserve to live etc. So over the top its ridiculous.

Poor childhoods do not excuse awful adult-hoods.

Although we should spend more time appreciating those that overcome poor childhoods to be good people.

And so while it might explain aspects of this asshole.......who cares. he's still an awful person.

On one hand... He hasn't killed anyone, didn't De Jong someone in the chest, and didn't karate kick someone in the crowd and then bang on about seagulls. Plus the media love a bit of feigned outrage and hysteria.

On the other hand... biting someone is animalistic, hints towards an unhinged mind, and could kill someone (if he's just reacting and biting the nearest part of the body to his face, then what happens when he bites a major artery?) Plus he's a repeat offender, and goes into this behavioural cycle of anger/shame/repention/pride/anger... etc etc. If someone had done this in the street it would be assault (any members of plod on the forum feel free to clarify this), and I'm sure a third offence would see a fair while doing porridge. He simply has to learn his lesson.

In this case I'd suspend him from international football for the remainder of this World Cup, and the duration of the Copa America campaign and finals. I'd also demand he attend psychological evaluations and therapy.

Or failing that just strap him to a goal post in the Maracana and let Chiellini, Ivanovic and Bakkal alternately punch him in the face for an hour.

It's like he's of the inclination that a head-butt isn't good enough. It's got to be something different. It's like a bite is likelier to be harder to see as obscuring the act is more under his control. He can put his body in the way, there's no visible thrust that can be interepreted as a belligerent act. It's like a headbutt is a little more obvious and can be seen more or less from all angles, so he's ruled it out.

I can understand Defoe going in for a chomp, as he's a short-arse, and can't get an effective head-butt without jumping, but it's just one more defense Suarez isn't going to be able to employ.

Yeah completely right Suarez would never kick a fellow footballer in a similiar manner to the De Jong one................

Oh maybe he has.

What a waste of a supreme talent.
90% of the time he is one of the world's best.
The other 10% he spends diving and feigning injury
oh yes and biting and abusing people.
Too unbalanced whatever the cause
to be allowed on a any football pitch
let alone at Spurs.

What I find the most concerning is the complete lack of remorse or any sort of acceptance that he's done anything wrong.

He even has the gall to play the victim. It clearly doesn't help that he's surrounded by people at international and club level who pander to him and defend him when he does wrong. When that's the case, nothing will ever change.

very blatant - suarez the scumbag player. no idea what he's like in real life, but he's a scumbag of a player, end of...

sick of hearing about "gamesmanship" and scrapper and competitive.... and that is all BS and he's a cheat

diving, feigning injury, attempting to injure players and then attempting to cover it up with feigned apology or feigned injury, biting players, and abusing players....

he's blatantly assaulted 3 people and no police yet? :p

next time he pulls this rubbish I truly hope the next player grabs him by the collar and beats the buh-JEEZUS out of him right there on the pitch in front of everyone. Then, that player threatens to sue FIFA for "hostile work environment" by allowing Suarez to play.... :ROFLMAO:

all joking aside, he is clearly a scumbag footballer and maybe a little frontier justice is in order...

I'm amazed by how angry people get about Suarez's anger management problems. He's good value, I'll give him that.

Meh. What's hard to understand about him? He's a douchebag. Simple as that. Gorgeous footballer so it's a shame he's also unhinged but you can't everything I suppose.

Aye, true enough. What makes me scratch my head about all this, aside from a grown man continually biting people, is the reaction of his sympathisers. Like this is the most normal, everyday stuff and everyone else is bonkers for even raising an eyebrow. It's like a cult (not a typo).
