I agree that Corluka is a better RB than Richards, but if the price is right, then Richards would be a very decent addition to the squad.

Once again... for the bajillionth time in this thread, from several of us;

Richards prefers CB, he plays well there. He can also do a job at RB.

This obsession that we have some kind of army of right backs, simply because we have 2 decent players and a couple of youngsters who, i would like to point out, are never ever named in posters starting eleven choices, let alone on the bench, yet when we're rumoured to be signing someone in that position those same folk go all grr, claiming we already have prospects etc. Where are they then?

Add to the fact that Hutton has hardly set the prem on fire and is likely off, that leaves us with Naughton (who has apparently not stepped up like was expected of him) and Walker who, last time i checked, is 19 and we're looking to offload him on loan? Why are so many of you including him in your list of concerns?

Besides, with no second coming of Christ on the horizon, King and Woodie are not going to start regressing, or suddenly become mended and unbreakable. Think of it as 2 years down the line, King and Woodie are both gone or retired or something - we're left with genuine CB cover of Dawson, Bassong & the invisible man, Dervite. Granted, Charlie can fill in, as can Hudd, but what would you prefer - a thinned defence, the club being fleeced for anyone they're after as it's widely known we need them, or Micah Richards, a talented defender who right now needs to get his game back on track, 2 years settled into our already rather solid looking defence?

No more right backs!
We don't have any problems in that position. We especially don't need a player who has a big question mark over his defensive capabilities.

We should use the money to strengthen another position, we should try and get a world class player, that would really improve us.

RB or CB either way I don't think he is better than we already have and therefore probably won't be an automatic choice. He was crying being on the bench at city so why would he being a sub for us. Walker(19) and Naughton(20) were bought as future prospects so why would they step up right now? Blocking their paths with a player only a couple of years older seems stupid to me. Supposed he is bought as a CB I again don't think he will get in. No matter how much SC members seem to think they know the inner workings of Woodgates and Kings physical states I don't believe Harry would spunk 10m-20m on a replacement in January seeing we already have Corluka/Huddlestone/Dervitte as additonal cover.

Sorry but this story just doesn't make sense to me.

Eh? A bit hard for the lad to step up when he hasn't been given a chance and two right backs are in front of him and I think walker is on loan to the blades. Harry spent 6-8 million on these guys and neither of them appear to be ready for the first team.

I'd prefer that we get someone who is in good form right now with no question marks over their defensive ability. I'm sure the money that Richards would cost would pay for someone like that.

I agree with your frustration, he is a CB. Whilst I agree with what you have posted I do feel that he could be nurtured, fairly quickly by HR, into a half decent DM.

Just my 2pence worth.

Is he better than Bassong ? no
Is he better than Dawson ? no
Is he better than King ? no
Is he better than Woodgate ? no
Is he better than Corluka ? no

He would not be an upgrade merely a squad player who can fill in in an injury crisis and unless it was £5m or less I don't see the point
