Let me make it plain that I am not seeking to start a new thread etc. I am just trying to give some info after like you guys I heard and seen a lot of inconclusive info regarding this player. I am quite well connected through one of my business partner's in Turkey. I asked the question and got a reply. Please remember that he is an official of that club:

Hello Emaz. How are you? I am hearing over here that Arda Turan signed for Tottenham. Do you know anything about this? I know this is not a GLD question. Alex
emaz: yes right
*engin yilmaz: he s going to tottenham unless Liverpool acts faster

Yes, I have asked the question re Liverpool, and he believes it is us and we have agreed...

Edited update: All is agreed, GDS not 100% keen as yet and that may be slight hold-up. Liverpool had agreement on 1st refusal but do not have the funds. We offered good deal and ALL HAPPY. Lets wait and see, just sharing as a passionate supporter.

Updated 17th May :

Update: few clubs is after him

e yilmaz: Arda wanted Liverpool
e yilmaz: but if Gooners is in the picture he may go there too, but we have nothing from them
e yilmaz: nothing is actually sure yet...
e yilmaz: Tottenham offered euro 10 Million euros
ACTUALLY EURO 5-6 MİL PLUS DOS SANTOS
In the English press etc the president of Gala' said deal agreed months ago, and once, its all over the internet as well...

[13:35:09] e yilmaz: Redknapp is going to USA on 19th to meet Arda and finish it
well they are close
[13:35:23] e yilmaz: but nothing is signed
[13:35:40] e yilmaz: I see totenham offered latest euro 9 mil plus dos santos

e yilmaz:If Arda goes to Tottenham, all Galatasaray fans will be Tottenham fan as well including me
[13:40:58] engin yilmaz: the boy is magician

I think Jasper has been right in the past, I know the name thats for sure, I bloody hope he's right on this one though. What a fantastic signing this will be to kick start the summer.

To be fair even if Jasper hasn't had one right before he seems to be talking to someone at the Turkish club so we have to take it at face value.

Turan or Cole?

I'd highly doubt we would want both. For me Turan would be the better signing.

Lenoon, bentley, modric, huddlestone, bale, kranjcar, that's a lot of creativity, and high quality at that. Not sure what this boy would add that we don't have.

I can see him being used behind the front man, the front man that is Dzeko

If Harry wants to better what we have, this is a good start.

would prefer joe cole if that's the case, but even so, harry is quite vocal about his love of 442 so I can't see it. I reckon this is pie in the sky.

Harry is all about Squad aswell, so getting rid of Gio, who we didnt have this season and bring in Turan, would add more to the squad and a bit of class, Especially in the CL.

If Harry sees Luka's future position in CM and Bale's future position at LB then that leaves a gap at LM.

He is an exciting, talented player who would only add to our team. I think it's such a shame about Giovani's reported behaviour. I feel it would be stupid to get rid of him before the world cup as I can just see him catching everyone's eye and his price going skyward if we choose to sell him.

Could he not play up front with a big man? Maybe more of a 4-4-1-1 formation. But he looks like he could play the Aguero role up top, with the freedom to roam.

Didn't some one in the other thread say Rijkaard said GDS ain't coming and tottenham want him back

Yes, Rijkaard said in an interview on Friday that we wouldn't consider letting Gio leave on a permanent basis.

What's clear is that it seems everyone knoew about this deal, from his agent to Turkish football pundits, to Arsenal forums to Spurs, the only ones not talking are Spurs and Galatasary, So the info that the deal will be announced after Turkey's tour of the US seems quite likely, or was it Galatasary that was going on tour
