..... making progress with Richards. There's also some good news that the World Cup bid has focused attention on July for a stadium planning decision as the FIFA committee will be doing site visits in August. There are some in the club who doubt whether being a world cup stadium is all its cracked up to be, but as long as Daniel is so eager to .....

if we actually are making progress with richards and shitty are reportedly talking to dzeko, im thinking its like the palacios/bellamy situation again.

I think if we were serious enough about wanting Dzeko, we wouldn't negotiate the same sort of 'reported' deal for Richards. The category of the importance of the two players is completely different this time.

just a footnote on Dzeko. £33mil until Monday is the clause. Until then its just interest, the bids of 20-23million will commence after as long as Shitty havnt already paid over the odds.

I dont think it has any bearing on the Richards deal, it may have a bearing on Bellamy however!

The council have been told by 'higher powers' that they need to approve the stadium (or reject it I guess) before August, as FIFA are visiting to inspect all the sites, and they don't want/FIFA won't visit a site that might not get approval...

Levy really wants it to be used in the World Cup for whatever reason, others in the club aren't as fussed.

That's what I understand it as?

Planning permission will be pushed forward as it will be a benefit to the 2018 bid if there is another world class stadium. Daniel Levy wants our stadium to be part of the bid, other directors at the club aren't sure, but Levy's word is final.

Quite clever work from Levy on the stadium front if the 2018 bid gets it a bit more clout when it comes to planning permission.

Simpolz.

Levy wants it to be part of the world cup bid because......... he can demand a hell of a lot more ££££££££'s for the naming rights to a stadium that will be in the Worlds spot light for a few weeks.

So glad we have a businessman running our club.

Exactly. And my sentiments entirely. I'd like to hear the arguments these nay-saying directors are making.

These "higher powers" who are they? Government? Mayor? I know we have the Chairman of the Conservative party on our board (or he may have had to leave now they're in government)? Triesman (Spurs supporter and still a Lord)? I doubt the FA will be trying to flex their muscles.
