^ very much agreed. I've heard this guy referred to as "the most sought after centre-back in world football at the moment", if we can steal a march by offering him part of a first-choice pairing we should. Bassong will accept being third choice - he joined thinking he'd be a (more regularly playing) fourth choice after all.
