The reason Begovic turned us down is because when he went for the medical Pletikosa was there also in the next room and he recognised him!

Apparently the two medicals had been organised by two different people (neither of whom was Harry)

Shocking! He then decided why do i want to join if they are trying to sign ANOTHER keeper!

Nothing to do with not being number one..

He went back to hotel to collect his things and left! TYPICAL SPURS!

(Don't know if that means we are getting Pletikosa)

You don't think a Bosnian would recognise a Croation international who plays the same position as him?

Typical Spurs? Do we often organise two medicals by two different people on the same day for two players playing in the same position?

Harry said on the other day at the end of the begovic and kaboul interview that pletoskia was in for a medical. I didnt understand why he wanted 3 goalkeepers and I dont blame begovic for packing his bags and leaving elsewhere.

Yes, in his pre-match interview on Friday Redknapp mentioned both GKs in the same breath.

Neither make sense really as neither can play for us this season and Cudicini will be back by the summer. We need a 6 month loanee who can play now if anything happens to HG.

Pletikosa should be getting back to match fitness around now supposedly based on his interviews.

sounds a bit odd to me.. Begovich would have known, if he can read, that we were interested in this pletikosa bloke as well.. I would have thought Cudicini isn't going to play much further part.. nasty injury and all.. so in theory we're trying to get begovich as 2 and pletikosa as 3

ACLs are 6-9 months, usually 6 with top level physios; so next month sometime.

I like the sound of him. Cudicini is exceptional in his lack of ambition. Generally the 'Cerny-mould' of #2GKs, like Pletikosa is, are the best ones to have. Having restless young GKs when you have such an established #1 as Gomes doesn't tend to do you any favours.

So, a keeper who was planning to sign to be a number 2, left because he saw the club were trying to sign another keeper, thus giving them 3 keepers for next season, since the other 3 currently at the club are either long-term injured or judged not to be of the required standard? Bear in mind he's at a club that also have 4 keepers on their books.

Presuming he didn't think the club would start the season with only 2 keepers, does this make any sense? I suppose we'll know if he joins Stoke and replaces Sorensen.

pretty sure it was to do with first team football, have no reason to doubt. if the stuff about pletikosa is true, then surely that reinforces that even more - he was considering the move before when he only had 1 GK in competition for the number 1 spot, but when he saw we were in for another, he thought his chances would be even lower.

sounds ridiculous having them both in without letting them know what the crack was, surely we never wanted them both. and if its a case of begovic getting the hump that we were looking at alternatives, then he needs to grow up, as every club will look at more than just one option, particularly as, as said above, that we've been in for pletikosa for a long time. shame he failed his medical tbh.

I'm not knocking the ITK but its just hard to believe that, because Pletikosa was supposed to have his medical long before we even thought of begthebitch (sp?). I know we're quick to say "typical Spurs" but are we that incompetent as a club that we would have had both of them to have medicals at the same time? and even so I just can't picture it, its not like the NHS where you sit in a waiting room and read mags from March 09.

SSN saying Stoke have bid 3m for Begovic. It's fair to say they're not likely to pay that kind of sum for a reserve keeper.

I'd say this is the real reason why he isn't coming...a bigger fee for Portsmouth and first team football.

Could it be our lack of a reserve team that is making it difficult to sign a No2 or No3 goalkeeper?
When would they actually get a game?
