More important to have a replacement for when Kane Doesn't start that doesn't involve changing the way we set up and play.

Yeah it's obvious this is the line we are going down with Janssen. It's a good idea. If we want pace we've always got njie who's basically a new signing too after his injuries last year. I'm interested to see what he brings to the table with a full preseason behind him. Whilst he's not a pure striker he's got the pace in him to stretch defences late in the game from an attacking position.

He's not exactly come out and said 'i only want to play for Spurs' either has he? Seems to be whoring himself out for a quick move and i could quite easily see Spam or Everton or Palace come in with 20 million euros and getting it done quickly.

Come on Daniel, get this one done!

Oh dear, value value value for money as if it's just a given that lower amount of millions means more value for money. When you are on WHL and the play makes you lift your bum off the seat, do you go "Wow, that was some great skill" or do you go "Wow, that's great value for money right there, he almost hit the bar folks!".

And then, people start saying that we don't need more good strikers, because look at Lloris, he is great innit, and he is the first choice keeper, so naturally, we don't need more than one great striker too. Easily overlooking the fact that strikers and goalies isn't even close to the same thing.

What is wrong with our fellow supporters? Who pays 50 pounds a ticket or more to see a player just because we paid less for him than what we would have paid for that other guy? It's like some of you just happen to be member of SC rather than the world wide web's forum for best value for money. In fact, you are probably members here not because you are football fans, but because it is FREE, now that's great value!

I don't care how great value a striker is. To me it comes down to one thing; does he score goals, or does he not score goals. If he scores a lot, he was probably worth the fee, if he doesn't score a lot he isn't worth jack shit. And I don't care how much you all love Harry Kane. Now, Kane is a great player. But it doesn't help us how great Kane is when Kane isn't playing (or even worse, when *shouldn't* be playing). The only thing that matters in those instances is how good that other striker is. Not how great value he was in June 2016.

It's amusing how people just get on this value bandwagon, casually ignoring the fact that for every desired price tag we hear rumoured, Tottenham always seems to be "just 2 millions apart". When it happens occasionally, it's shrewd business management, I agree. When it happens every single transfer we even come close to sniffing at, it stops being shrewd business and becomes a perverted principal that Spurs directors need satisfied in order to sexually function at the end of the day. I get it. Some prefers brunettes, others prefer to always be 2 millions apart on a price tag.

And if you really want some crappy third string fiddler to play backup to Kane (rather than possibly being his equal competitor), well why don't we contact Burnley and ask them if they can give us a great value offer for Andre Gray. Or even better let's enquire about Andre Gray's backup, now that will be fudging value for money because after all it works so well to rely on Hugo Lloris, right?

Well, who am I kidding. Of course, let's go out and fight for at least one trophy that we maybe possible can win. It makes sense to win the "Best value in terms of lowest fee paid for a striker" league. We sure can't mess that up, we'd be the only team in it!

However, when you sit there as the snow flies, on a cold and grey North London evening and poor little Harry Kane can't play for THFC. And his mama cries. 'Cause if there's one thing we don't need now it's another hungry upscale striker to heed,
in THFC.

People, don't you understand
Kane needs a helping hand
Or he'll grow to be a tired young man some day?

Take a look at you and me
Are we too blind to see
Do we simply turn our heads, and look the other way?

Well, he was great value
And a cheap little boy with a runny nose
Sits on the bench as the cold wind blows
on White Hart Lane (on White Hart Lane)

Bill Nicholson was once asked about the 'luxury' players in his squad. He asked what the journo meant and was told that he had been referring to expensive signings. Nicholson then replied that expense had nothing to do with luxury but that it was the ones who didn't produce the goods on the pitch who he considered to be 'luxury'. Wise man.

I personally like the fact he wants to be at his new club before pre season starts, to give him the best possible preparation time.

Indeed and we finished 3rd so just goes to show there's no need to panic so much in the transfer window

We have a strong squad with all our key players committed and already 1 new signing at the end of June. We will sign more.

But there are limited striker options unless we go plan C, D... By then we are scrapping the tier 2 strikers. I think we need to get this one done and take our time for the rest.

There was a significant part of my reaction to Dele Alli's goal against Crystal Palace which was delight at what a steal he was. Supporting a club is, for better or for worse, supporting a business.

It's got another club swooping in and offering the asking price written all over it. ;)

No it doesn't. Player wants move to us, other teams are seemingly dropping out (Wolfsburg) which helps us to have some leverage. Should be done soon. They get €20m, justify sale by getting their price and that's that.

You clearly didn't interpret the wink being sarcastic...

Let's also not go down the "player wants to move to us" road. Lost count of the number of times that line has been wheeled out only to end in disappointment.

How do they know he was our first choice, the media? It's been widely reported we have already bid for Janssen prior to the Bats stuff going tits up. Perhaps we deliberately lowballed an offer knowing it would be rejected to display intent we wanted him whilst still keeping our options open on MB. What is clear though is that strikers are in short supply this summer and money isn't. We certainly need to pull our finger out on this one IMO.

It really doesn't matter if he was our first choice (although I would seriously question our coaches if they rated Janssen higher than Bats). The point is that we have now less options for the striker. So Janssen becomes more wanted. Basic law of demand and supply

Sorry for not picking up the sarcasm...how often are we in negotiations with confirmed bids with the player saying I want to join Tottenham? I can't remember many of those situations in recent times ending poorly aside from Berahino

Nah he's quoted as saying that he wants to move to Spurs. And to be honest, I'm not sure why people are saying this is signs of a bad attitude or that he's whinging to the press. He was probably just asked a question at a press conference and replied. I don't see a whole lot wrong with what he said and, like @Trix, I think it's encouraging that he wants to get to his new club in time for pre season so he can prove himself. That seems like a great attitude to me.

Lol.... I won't be surprise if clubs like Arsenal or Atletico swoops in and Levy gets caught with his pants down. :ROFLMAO:
