I'm really struggling to see why the likes of Hercules, DanielJohnCosta, Everlasting Seconds and others are so down on this guy.
I really like what I see and hear. Not technical? Nonsense. He has good technique. He is an exceptional finisher. Off either foot (antoo and that means that, either facing or with his back to goal, the defender can never be certain which way he is going to turn. He has awesome upper body strength. Brushes off his markers with ease. Not fast? Maybe. But not slow either. Fantastic movement off the ball and a real hunger to get himself in scoring positions. Decent awareness of his team mates and ability to link up play. Tap ins? Sure. Nothing wrong with that. But plenty of other types of goal too.
If all of that wasn't enough, we hear that he has a fantastic attitude in training too. Always wanting to learn and improve. Poch's kind of player.
I certainly don't see him as an inferior option to Batshuayi. He's not as quick, certainly. But he's a better finisher and has better movement. And while pace is a great asset, it isn't the be all and end all that so many portray it as. Especially for Spurs. How often do we come up against teams that force a high line against us? How often do our forwards have acres of space to run into?
Far more often than not,we have to break teams down as they defend in numbers against us. In such circumstances. Good movement and finishing is far more useful to us than pace.
