I think these words are quite telling from Vertonghen as well about playing in Holland. As others have said, before he joined us he'd had 1 season of top level football under his belt. His detractors forget that I suspect.

I think that's the key there. In a league with almost no defending and where the average defender is not so strong, someone strong like him bullied defenses and scored. He's now in a league with strong defenders and good defenses. His advantage is gone
