I think these words are quite telling from Vertonghen as well about playing in Holland. As others have said, before he joined us he'd had 1 season of top level football under his belt. His detractors forget that I suspect.

http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...ill-tun-around-tottenham-career-a3509041.html

He said: “You get a lot more space. Every team in Holland wants to attack and they don’t really think about defending.

“That’s the philosophy - just play 4-3-3 and play good football in possession, and don’t think too much about defending.
That’s why I think strikers get so many chances and goals in Holland, and obviously it’s different here.

I think that's the key there. In a league with almost no defending and where the average defender is not so strong, someone strong like him bullied defenses and scored. He's now in a league with strong defenders and good defenses. His advantage is gone

Not so sure about that my old tiger!

These are the 8 games Kane missed.

Janssen to me doesn't have the natural instincts required to be an outstanding striker but he does have the work rate and determination to be a very decent one.

Isn't going anywhere tbh. Some like him, some don't. Some want to give him another season, some don't. None of it matters. I think Poch will want him for next season but time will tell.
Agree.. I think he's limited, but that's not so say he'll come good. I never thought in a million years that Kane would be the player he is now, so we can all be proved wrong.

RVN was limited, as long as you know the limits and play accordingly "limited" can be extremely prolific. Before any nay sayers pipe up, I am in no way comparing the two quality wise, and am just making a general point.

Who would you trade him in for?

Dream scenario would be Martial, that would solve the Janssen and Sissoko problem in one go but that unfortunately is highly unlikely.

I hope and I suspect we will go for Dembele at Celtic. I wanted him previously and he fits the profile.

But we didn't go in for him before, I don't know what the reason was but whatever it was I am not aware that it has changed.

I believe we'll keep Vincent unless we manage to hook someone better then we'll say goodbye, I know that sounds bloody obvious but what I mean is that we aren't actively pushing him out, we'll keep working with him but I doubt we are intent on keeping him, we will be trying for an upgrade.

Who knows the real reason, there was a lot of rumours as to what happened. All I know know he is fit, he is young, he knows the British game and he would meet our profile.

As I said before I will be amazed if Janssen is here at the windows end. If it isn't Dembele I'm certain it will be someone else.

i just cant see when he is going to play
he isnt going to play with kane, and if kane is injured then son is better

Not against teams that mark him out the game, Bournemouth he hardly got a touch.

Janssen never even completed 10 games, he started 7 games, all when Kane suffered his 1st injury, which I don't believe he played the full 90, though pre Xmas he definitely never looked fit enough. He made 20 sub appearances though most of those he wasn't on the pitch too long. I could understand concerns if he had played in the league before or had a lot more experience in the game, he is proving his worth when he plays for Holland. He has come to a much tougher league, had to adapt to new surroundings, a new team, and has also had things happening in his life that might effect his mentality.

I met someone related to him when on holiday last year, and was recently told he had split with his long term girlfriend/fiancé who he has been with for many years, who he met in his home village in holland. I don't care who you are, but things like this can totally screw you up.

Lucky teams don't listen to supporters isn't it, RM fans votedModric their worst ever signing after his 1st season, and 2 seasons ago made Bales life hell. Janssen might decide to go himself, but if he stays, hopefully after a proper preseason if he has to replace an injured Kane this time he will be leaner fitter and better mentally.

I vote stay give him a chance

What happens if God forbid Harry gets injured for three months or so we need a player ready to come in straight away and that ain't Vincent imo, he weakens the team when he plays .wouldn't mind keeping him as long as we get another centre forward.

We never lost a match he started in last season

Dembele of Celtic? A league that's weaker than the Dutch league? Don't think a striker from Scotland has proved capable since Dalglish.

Also rumours going around the reason we lost interest was due to a medical problem.

Least it confirms 1 thing I'd rather our scouts than let you anywhere near selecting players for our team

If you're a fan of that, imagine all the Lesniak stats. No losses either, meanwhile averaging 6.5 goals per game with him involved.

Lesniak was involved in 20 minutes, also never started a game, Janssen started 7 games which isn't a lot, but the post I quoted says he weakens us, tell me a team who wouldn't be weaker without their main striker, or someone like Kane

Yes Dembele at Celtic, a player who also scored 3 goals in 6 CL games, who was one of the top scorers in the Championship the season before and has scored 4 goals in 5 games for the French U21, that one.

As for products from the Scottish leagues, well firstly Dembele didn't make his name there and secondarily Celtic has yielded the likes of Wynnama and Van Dyk in recent seasons so it is hardly a club that is developing dross at present is it?

Given that our scouts recommended Dembele previously I don't quite understand the logic of going with their opinion over mine but hey oh.

We didn't do the deal after his medical so I assume there are other issues.
