Actually Baldini is in charge of getting guys off this window and so far he's done a damn good job of it. Kaboul, Capoue, Paulinho, Holtby, Stambouli, and Chiriches off so far over the course of 3.5 weeks. Ade, Lennon and Bobby hopefully off in the coming days/weeks. Then maybe Andros, Carroll and Fredericks will be sold.

Brings me to this point, Baldini is not and never has been Director of Football. He is Technical Director. His job is overseeing the scouting system and overhauling it, from the first team down to the youth levels, and using his connections across Europe to identify potential targets to send the scouts to watch. To be fair to him, he's done a damn good job of that as well.

I actually think he's worth more than 6m euros.

He'll do really well in Italy imo.

I think he's technically a good footballer, but overall i think he's a poor defender because his concentration and decision making isn't good enough and that will be exposed no matter what League he's playing in - certainly any of the big ones around the world.

I can see why some Clubs would be interested at first glance though, everyone wants ball playing and silky CB's but I also think that can cloud judgement on want good defending is suppose to be about.

I know he can read the game well and time tackles well but its the decision making and switching off, its just too costly.

A pretty good fee in all honesty, didn't work out so damage limitation.

€6m would be pretty disappointing tbqh. Especially as we got £4/5m for Kaboul an ageing crock.
We bought him for £8.5m, so seeing him off at £4.3m gets us half our investment back. That's not terrible considering Chiriches has not done all that much in his 2 years here.

Losing half your investment in 2 years is terrible.

I'd expect Levy/whoever's in charge of selling this summer to be getting £6-7m for him, he's really not been that bad. His reputation here has been absolutely trashed though because of a few really bad games, but overall I think he's been decent.

There is certainly some ambiguity to his role. Such ambiguity allows people to say he's been brilliant or shit at his job. Personally, Levy doesn't strike me as a man who persists with people who are shit at their jobs so I suspect your idea of his role is closer to the truth. No doubt he's doing a great job shifting people this window.

I'm gutted it didn't work out for him, he's just got too much flair to be a defender in this league though and has let himself down with some shocking mistakes. He did have some good games though, good luck to him. I wonder if his former chairman is due a cut of the deal? We might have to pay him in cigarettes if he's still locked up.

He is terrible. He wouldn't be a good player in my Sunday league side

Based on that logic what's Walker's level? Secondary school?

He plays regularly and makes mistakes every fifteen minutes (not literally).

I completely disagree. He won't play, its best to get him off the wage bill

Good luck Vlad the Inhaler, I had high hopes for him as I'm a sucker for a ball playing, risk taking defender (Corluka still has my heart) but it's not going to happen for him here. It's best for everyone if he moves on. Italy will suit his style and physicality more

And I'm still gutted we were never able to make a song for him using 'Rags to riches' by Dean Martin because he can't pronounce his name properly

Agreed, expected more interest in him and always thought he'd end up at Roma.

9-10 million euros sounds fairer but I guess his performances and lack of playing time has really made his stock go down
