Picking up one thing from that Burt article, why is Levy asking Andre whether he can play 2 strikers?

WTF?

Maybe because we just got hammered 5-0 at home with no shots on target and the striker who should be playing the lone role is getting big money for nothing because the manager hates him.

Maybe he was just doing what everyone else was saying along the lines of "the current tactics are failing spectacularly, what is your plan b?"

Or may be the player in question is a complete ****. He was given opportunities in EC and league cup, but pulled out with minor injuries or in one case a cold. I find it astonishing that that a club of our status is heading towards a cluster F*** because of people like Sherwood and Adebayor.

Reason he may have resigned - Journalists report he was 'disillusioned'.

Reason he may not have resigned - £4.2m redundancy payment.

A few weeks into my new job, a very good job at one of the top companies in my field, my friend of several years, and colleague now too, who knew full well of my sketchy employment record and resultant confidence issues, told me that I reminded him of some Battersea Dogs Home puppy, mistreated previous and therefore very jumpy at even the slightest pressure, and too affected by any instance where I got something wrong.

A few months down the line, and yesterday my boss and I had a small meeting. I had started my job very well and initially performed to a high standard, but in the last couple of weeks I've made a few sloppy mistakes, not fatal mistakes but mistakes which I shouldn't ever make. It started with a very bad day where I got something totally wrong, and in my efforts to correct that, and subsequent fear or compounding that bad day with more poor performance, I ended up getting making more mistakes in a fortnight than in the previous three months. I was putting huge pressure on myself and it all became a self fulfilling prophecy. In my meeting with my boss yesterday, a man who ultimately the buck of my actions always stops with (even though my remit grants me a fair bit of independence in my approach), he flagged up my errors, told me that he knew both the effort and ability were there but that I needed to break this cycle (the cause of which was very much intertwined with my confidence issues and poor handling of any negativity), and discussed what he wanted to see for me in the coming months. It was a pleasant meeting.

After the meeting, walking back to our desks, the discussion turned to football. I thanked him for not compounding my misery with mention of Sundays result (he is a Liverpoor fan I'm afraid), and when he asked me how I felt about AVB being sacked, I responded that I always felt AVB's heart was in the right place, and that he had the right philsophy and talents, but he couldn't find a way to make things work, he was too entrenched in his own ideas and unable to adapt to changing situations. MY boss (tongue in cheek, he's not THAT mean) joked "Maybe you're the AVB of the firm".

Read into all of that what you will.

Whoever takes over long term needs our support and not the sniping that followed Villas Boas around from day one. That can't have helped and plenty never liked him.

How would he have known? It's not like he would've been trawling through SC and other forums reading hate posts and there was never any demonstrations on matchdays.
