Has anyone else noticed that Wayne Rooney is basically a fat championship-level player who literally never does anything on the pitch and hasn't done for about 3 years, but gets constant praise from the media?

He was awarded motm the other night against Chelsea, when his main contribution was a couple of miskicks. 2 goals and 1 assist in the league this season.

But will anyone in the media dare suggest he's dropped? Will anyone dare suggest he shouldn't be in the Euro's squad? I doubt it.

Think Jamie Redknapp might.

Never mind Rooney - agree with all you say. I'm just dreading 'Stevie G' going back to Liverpool for half a season. I can't take all that 'the messiah retires' malarky from Sky again.

Started playing at 16 at a professional level, hes burnt out and IMHO he was used as a cart horse by Man U and Fergie to plug holes for years. Maybe a new club could turn him round cause on his day he IS unplayable.

You are wrong about his main contribution being a couple of miskicks in the game on Sunday. I thought his main contribution was the awful challenge that should've seen him sent off. Not surprised there's no big deal being made of that either.

Whilst I think it's silly to say he's a Championship player, he has certainly been shite for a while now. He's gone downhill along with United. Fergie wouldn't stand for laziness and would give him that much needed kick up the arse. Since Fergie's left you can tell Wayne's become lazier and less interested. He's lost that spark, that energy, that desire to play and enjoy what you're doing. It doesn't help having to work under a fucktard like LvG either. He needs a career move and Roy should seriously think about excluding him.

He's not nearly as bad as you claim he is, but he certainly needs a new club. He's getting incredibly stale at United.

He's got 300k reasons every week not to leave before June 2019. An 80% subsidised loan deal can't be ruled out of course. Would be interesting watching him at Everton or some such, but I just can't see it.

Good player now but thats it.
Sometimes his touch, control and passing are absolute shite but commentators never ever mention it. Ever.
He tries the near impossible through eye of a needle or 50yd pass too often so gives ball away.
Can be awesome on his day but as you say those days have been few and far between last 3 years... imo.

I think he'd be a lot more effective if he just concentrated on trying to score rather than running the game.

He isn't quite the player he was but he's still far better than most strikers in the league or even the world.

Bear in mind that he's been playing in a United team that stifles attacking intent.

If he signed for Spurs half this message board would piss their knickers with excitement.

I would agree that he's possibly suffering burn out from playing too many games too young but he isn't finished as a Premier League player yet. The days of 25 - 30 goals a season may be behind him but he can still be a very productive player and will probably win more trophies before he retires.

I would love Gerrard to go back. More media fawning to let us keep on going quietly, and should Klopp feel forced to play him he weakens their team..
