Bit of fun to waste time until kick off...

Due to a rather spicy dog hotpot last night I have spent quite a bit of time today sitting down with nothing else to do. Whilst I was idling away the hours in the bathroom I got to thinking about Keane's old song.

Obviously, not many left really imagine we'd mount much of a title challenge with 10 Robbies. But I began to wonder how a team of Gareth Bale's might do.

Obviously as a full back he can do a job - better on the left than the right but not a disaster on the right I imagine. Left and right wing would be a cinch, although he cut in quite a bit on the right. Right back Gareth would have to provide a bit of width.

Up front I wouldn't mind seeing him play both no.9 and no.10 roles. He's got a lot of upper body strength, and his finishing in the Inter game was hugely impressive - I can't imagine Crouch hitting the far corner so well.

In the middle I'd be tempted by playing a 'diamond' like formation as the head of the diamond role might well be a really great position for him, and I'm not sure Defensive Midfielder Gareth Bale would be completely out of his depth - as long as he has the discipline to stay back.

Centre back would be a tricky one, but I guess that the two CB Bales would have great communication - almost telepathic, so that should reduce the problems.

All in all - I think that team would at least stay up - if not do pretty well

Then I got to thinking about who else would make a team that could challenge him. Within our own squad there is only one name that stands out: Ledley King

Ledley King with good knees would make a great team. CB obviously no problem. Can't remember him playing fullback, but imagine he would nail it . Centre of the park - again a diamond. We know he can do a good job at Def Mid, but think we'd lack a bit of creativity with ACM Ledly King. On the wings we also wouldn't have much of a threat - although he is very fast, not so much with the ball and not a huge amount of tricks. Up front he'd play the Hesky role superbly, but don't expect many to fly in from distance.

Not sure whether I'd back Ledley or Gareth. In open play I think Team Bale would be more threatening, but all Ledley has got to do is win a corner. Imagine an offensive corner with 6 Ledleys prowling round the penalty area - marking them would be a nightmare! I think Team Bale would attack a lot down the wing, while Ledley would be playing a bit more through the centre - route one.

Not sure about who would make the better keeper - think they both would give a good account of themselves. So what do you think Team Ledley or Bale. Also which other players at Spurs, in the Premier League or Abroad would make a better team?

Please don't bother to post saying that this is impossible - I know that - however electrons can be in several places at once, and Bale is faster than those little negative buggers.

Modric is our best player.

I didn't say he wasn't - but I don't fancy a team Lukas. The back line would struggle with the physicality of a team of Kings, and he's not the most prolific scorer to make up for it.

This is not about the best player for a specific position - it's about the completely hypothetical situation where we could field a team of the same player

Bales for me. The best all round player we have at the club. I've always felt he could play a box to box midfield role brilliantly, and felt that he could be a decent striker. Sometimes I wonder if it would be worth giving him a go when all of our current strikers are having a nightmare in front of goal.

Watching the team of Bales counter-attack would be unimaginably fast.

Also, his obvious monkey features means I reckon he would be a decent goalkeeper!

Ledley King. Strong, fast, great in the air, great tackler, great positionally, great passer, has vision both long and short, pretty good dribbler, can play (and score) with both feet, including long shots, and he's a leader.

Unfortunately we'd only be able to turn out for games once a week.

He might not have the spring to play in goal because of his knee, but we'd never have any shots against us anyway.

i (still) dream of a team of Robbie Keanes

Stop eating cheese before you go to bed. The nightmares will go away

Had to Vote Bale (Sorry king!)
Would love to see a team of Kings, but a team of Bales has more to the game.

Now a team of King's, Bale's and VdV's

Keeper
Bale King King Bale
Bale VDV King Bale
VDV Bale

Could also have Bale at CM..

Of the two, it has to be Ledley King (obviously without injury problems). In terms of overall all-round footballing ability he would win.

I'd go with the team of Bales. But 433 rather than a diamond.

If we had only a team of Kings, we would never be able to field 11 players.

I've had the "Team of Gareth Bales" as my thingy under my name on here on the left for a while now. So unsurprisingly I went for the Welsh Wing Wizard.

I love Ledders and VDV too though. And Modders. And Lennon. and Disco Benny... and and and... the rest of 'em!

............... Gomes ..................

Bale ... King ..... Dawson .... Bale

Bale .. Modric .. Modric ...... Bale

.................. VDV .....................

.................. VDV .....................

And I still think Modric is our best player but Bale is on his way and I am sure VDV will be a contender to.

I think our best player is David Bentley

Imagine how many shots they'd have, no passing, and any freekicks outside the box would result in a mass fight over who's gonna take it
