True, but I'm not sure how many of those I'd put down to luck.

Off the top of my head I'd say we were lucky that Reading missed a bit of a sitter when we beat them at the Lane. It would have drawn them level with about 10 minutes to go.

Overall though it's fair to say we're about as lucky as a footless rabbit.

I'd quite like us to get a penalty before the end of the season. Just one: in the last minute of injury time at Stamford Bridge with the game drawn. I'd also quite like us to score from it for a change.

Everyone seems to think Arsenal are nailed on for 3rd place, despite shocking performances they have got incredibly lucky, and surely their luck must run out soon?

When has it, ever?

Wishful thinking that Arsenal won't somehow contrive to luck their way to being given 5pts for a win for the rest of the season or something absurd, but I like your positive post anyways.

No way are we favourites for 3rd, that's Spurs tinted talk

We're third favourites with the bookies, rightly so. Every neutral fan I've spoken to has us as the ones to miss out to as do most football pundits/experts

Arsenal have the best form and are winning games even when they don't play well, plus their fixture list would look to be the easiest on paper

Chelsea has the quality of European Champions and home advantage in the crunch game against us

We're third favourites currently, it's as simple as that

However, this means the square root of fuck all

We were very strong favourites - rightfully so - after we beat Arsenal, but shit changed.

Arsenal and Chelsea were strong favourites to beat us before we kicked off against Man City - but shit changed

Now we're still third favourites but if we beat Wigan and the other two slip up shit will again change

We have things in our own hands - which is nice. We are very much in the race and have a great chance of both 4th and 3rd - which is nice. Make no mistake we can make the Champions League and we can even make it automatically, no one can doubt our potential to do so after our comeback against City

But to everyone who's not a Spurs fan we're third favourites right now, but hopefully that will change again in the coming weeks if Man U beat both our rivals and we hold our nerve our ability to avoid defeat or even beat Chelsea will make us firm favourites for CL football

But right now there's a reason the bookies have longer odds on us than the other two - because we're not the favourites at this time

So essentially what you're saying is anything can happen meaning we can finish 3rd, 4th or 5th.

Right...

Well essentially I am saying no we are not favourites but that is irrelevant because being favourites means little at this time of the season when things are finely balanced

Bonus pt today. Was convinced we'd do the usual laying of an egg after a crucial result against a top team. Almost but Wigan were wise to our game and thankfully equalised for us.

We woulda got away with it but for those pesky northerners!

Everyone seems to think Arsenal are nailed on for 3rd place, despite shocking performances they have got incredibly lucky, and surely their luck must run out soon?

Firstly...We beat Wigan on saturday and we go above arsenal by 1 point with the same games played. Arsenal then play United who will hopefully be motivated by Fergie to crush that wanker and his scum side in their own back garden. Thus meaning we are still a point above with a game in hand.

Our game in hand is then Chelsea. Even if we lose we will be above them on the same games played, with a run-in as easy as theirs. Match their results and we finish above them. If we beat wigan and get a result at Chelsea then its all good if you ask me. Believe!! (y)

And that is the reason why they will probably get third.

Hate them

I am 7 points clear of my prediction league and homing in on the £80 prize

So thought I'd use my soothsaying powers and have a go at BBC predictor for rest of season. Wish I hadn't...

3rd Arsenal 71pts +32GD
4th Chelsea 70pts +32GD
5th Tottenham 70pts +19GD

I assume you had Arsenal winning 3 and losing to Utd?

No I had a draw against utd and Wigan, beating Newcastle and QPR
Damn and if things pan out as you think even a loss to Utd and a draw to Wigan would be enough to beat us on goal difference

Arsenal are clearly favourites for 3rd, we need them to lose today and hope they have a traditional wobble

I suppose the good news is if we were somehow to beat Southampton, Stoke and Sunderland we'd finish above the red and white of Arsenal - that's a lot of red and white smack downs we need to lay out

I've long thought its between us and Chelsea. Arsenal's run in has been so easy

The fact we play Chelsea is huge. I had that as a draw in this scenario. Shows what a difference a win could make

The Chelsea Swansea game has pretty much gone under the radar what with Man U playing Arsenal for their first game as Champions

But its important to remember Swansea are no mugs and Chelsea have just had a tough EL game on Thursday, could be a nice opportunity for us to stay in touch with the Chavs if the Welsh club do us a solid this afternoon

Chelsea and arsenal were 1/4 to qualify for the Champions League before both their games kicked off today.
